If sir Kay and sir balan are both champion class.
Why do they have different skills?

Pretty much yes.

And when I say unique earlier I literally mean unique. The knights you meet during your journey are all lore based characters and not some RNG generated guys. The devs fully intend the player to start multiple playthroughs in order to experience everything.

Becuz each knight is technically unique in this game. They may share the same class and very similar skills, but they're often unlocked at different levels.

Oh, so in the end, they will have access to the same stuff, just not right now?

Generally, knights of the same class share many of the same skills and typically perform a similar role in your party (ie. both Kay and Balan are Champions, a class that focuses on melee damage). However, some skills may differ, both in terms of which "tier" they can be unlocked, and some skills which are unique to heroes. For example, Kay has the "Death Strike" skill in tier 1, which Balan will never get access to. But Balan has the "Defensive Stance" skill, which Kay does not have in his skill tree. But both knights will get access to "Cleave", "Rage", "Power Attack", etc.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

all the "heroes" are suppose to be unique in some way.
(I mean, it would be pretty boring otherwise).

So some are more unique.

But none of the characters are the same

Well.. that's not technically true. There are some heroes that use same exact skill trees. I would assume they didn't have time to make them unique.

The main reason here is to maintain a sense of gameplay balance and designs must fit within the context of the lore world. The devs can't just go wild with all sorta ideas and 'what-ifs'.

It's strange way of thinking.
The dev's can make all the heroes looks the same and there will be perfect balance between all heroes? I think the correct answer - is not.

All of the knights of the round table is legend.
It's not random generated persons.

I mean they can be similar to each other, because they lived in some age.
They can be similar to each other, because of they are in the same class.

But!

They don't have to be the identical to each other's because they are different personas with different battle style's.
