Sir Ector design flaw?

So Im looking at this character and I thought, finaly someone to replace my weak archer early game but then I read some of his traits; contacts.

Am I reading this wrong or does it really state I will recieve 100g if I dont play him during each missions?

The problem that Im having is after some research I found out Sir Ector is a early game character, he will get replaced by much better even mid game.

In a sensible world, at what stage do you play this character then, why even create him?
I must have interpreted something wrong here, his ability doesnt make much sense from development perspective.

He is the ultimate bench warmer getting you gold and magic dust for every missions he sleeps at base. He is as I far as I can remember only mage for Christians also. If you go Old Faith, yeah there are better mages for battle. Not that you would ever drop him entirely given his passives tho.

i ditched ector early in the game. regretted it ever since, i could have had a bunch more relics and he's not that bad in a scrap imo

Doesnt matter anymore. I gave this game another shot. Deleted my first playthrough of 6 hours because of morality. Now I went for a 2nd playthrough before reading a guide this time. I gave a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ potion to some monk and it gave me christianity without notifying me first, I was really careful this time. I dont care about the money I threw away, fking wasted my time on a 2nd playthrough as well. The game concept is good but execution is so poor man.

He is indeed the ultimate bench warmer. but it is NOT because of the 100g, and just is a random added bonus.

It is because of his relich dust perk, it is the best and you will never remove him from the tower, untill LATE LATE LATE game. if even there.
and you do get the dust even if he is in your party

You can still collect enough points to max out your Old Faith Morality path. There are enough decisions for that.

The issue you ran into has been haunting us for months now but we could never (yeah never) reproduce the issue. Originally, there is a cross there indicating that you get a Christian point for handing over a potion to the monk.

I think Ector is great being able to one shot lost archers is a huge plus and his fire blast is very useful ive yet to fully phase him out and just use him less when I have other arcanists

I like using Sir Ector in missions inside buildings, where his fire spells can block the path of enemies.
