Left-handed swords?
Is there a reason that many characters are wielding swords in their left hand? I know this may sound like a weird question but I've never seen this before in a game and it seems really weird and awkward. It just doesn't feel right (pun intended)

The devs have said that the decision was made by the graphics designer who was left-handed. And in spite of many protests - and proposals to give an option to go right-handed - the devs have not relented. This is the main reason I am not buying - in spite of the fact that I gobble up basically every turn-based fantasy/tactics game that releases.

Firstly: As an ambidextrous person i find that handist.
(P.S. I really did not notice that is that true? Do they? I meen maybe thats why every stance feels unique you know they just go: yeah this one stands crouched left handed but the other crouched guy will be right handed, than the straight up standing gurl will be left handed and the other straight standing girl will be right handed... you get me, on a "glance" everyone seems to have unique stances without even changing animation that way, just mirroring the character, seems like a smart game design trick; you make everyone stand out using the cheerleader effect)
Secondly: "It just doesn't feel right..." < Thank you for this. Some may call it cheesy but i genuinely cried laughing ;p

This has been already answered by Dev - the artist who was creating it is lefthanded.

It is an art - take is as an art. You do not question MonaLisa smile as well :D

Yup, it really bugs me too. Feels weird and inverted. Like going to England and drive on the wrong side of the road. The devs told me that one of their graphicdesigners is lefthanded and he did the motion animations for the characters. Hope they make an option for both hands soon

In medieval times, left-handed people could not become knights because it was thought that they were descendants of the devil

This is a fake statement. The reason why most knights are left-handed is because one of our colleagues who created the animations is left-handed himself. He didn't 'decide' this, he only used motion cap and him as a model.

Semantics, please.

Wait... there are literal zombies, walking skeletons, dragons breathing fire, and you aren't buying the game because knights are left-handed?

Plot twist... maybe left-handedness is canon in this universe. I know, mind blown, right?

Realism and verisimilitude matter a great deal for me - especially when there are "fantasy" elements in the game. Some suspension of belief does not mean all suspension of belief or abandonment of the familiar.

Well, for what it's worth, this is one of the top releases of 2022 and puts the vast majority of triple A studios to shame. If you decide left-handed knights are OK in your head canon, I can't imagine you'll be disappointed.

This is endlessly amusing to me. If someone had told me that there existed even a single person that could have their suspension of disbelief shattered by video game characters being left handed, I would have laughed at how completely unbelievable a lie it was. Yet here we are :D

then don't play the game. problem solved.

FWIW, after reading this thread I am MORE intrigued by the game.
<stares at backlog> but I'm still working on games from Steam Sale 2020.

Me too.

But I get double the fun. I get to marvel at noob thought. Then sometimes, and only sometimes, I get to hear the racking of your shotgun followed by noob feathers slowly falling to the ground. That's fun for me too.

So these threads aren't all bad.
