I kinda like the way the missions limit everything - including access to all info.
Unless you're willing to take pen & paper in hand every time you start a mission, I suggest as well to add the option to check character sheets mid-mission (or at any point in-game via a shortcut).
I agree that we should be able to peruse our character sheets, or a summary of the effects that our gear, and challenge bonuses, give.
Not completely true. Many item effects like +2AP at the start of each encounter, or +1AP per kill are not displayed for mouseovers.
It wasn't a huge problem or anything, but it's a basic enough feature that I was definitely surprised (and mildly frustrated at times) to find it wasn't present.
I mean, this is a singleplayer game and you have the unlimited access to what item does what outside of missions, so there is literally no point to force people to write down the effect of items they have on their knights. It simply gets irksome and unnecessary.
I guess even the developers noticed that, because some items that grant you limited dodge ("you dodge an attack of opportunity" one) were given an icon on character's portrait whenever the effect still applies. Shame we didn't get other QoL improvements for other items.
I understand where you guys are coming from. You have a sword with +10 dmg against burning enemies and there are two enemies right there and one is burning and one is not. You want to make the best decision with complete information. I get it.
But it's a slippery slope. Fine, let's say the devs capitulate on the issue. What about when you take your B-Team on a mission for the second time in row - because you forgot to swap your fully healed A-Team back in? What about when you forget to restock your potions? What about having access to the items you find in a mission? What about -only- having access to your potion inventory? What about being able to back out of a mission?
What about when you move your equipment to a B-Team member and forget to swap it back? Yes, one mission Kay was completely naked. He may as well have been equipped with a feather duster. Trust me, the struggle was real.
The point is there is a whole panoply of minor requests like these. And these threads attract the people that want the change - or sympathize with the people that want the change. Where's the harm? But most of the people that like it the way it is or don't care either way, don't post in these threads. In fact, most people don't post in the forums, period. The best way to gauge the demand for something is to read the reviews. And I don't hear many people complaining about this issue.
A cow is a racehorse designed by committee. I don't want to make this game a cow.
Everyone has their pet issue. And the goal is to make it seem like it's a big issue. But for this issue, you're gonna need more than, like, ten people. Let's start with a hundred people.
I just want a damn button for the map so I can lean back in my chair and play the game one-handed instead of fumbling around for the M key. It's more comfy that way.
There are only 4 characters, it's not that difficult to remember how you kitted them.
Trading potion or changing gear mid mission would be detrimental to the game i believe. Missions aren't that long. You fight, go back to town and prep, fight, etc... it's the game flow.
You need to make choices and prepare carefully.
