What kind of weapons are there?
I've tried to look it up online but I only found information that there are several different runes that affect the weapons in one way or another.
However, how many actually different weapons are there?
I would have to think twice before buying this game if there were only one weapon per character or if all the weapons were very similar too each other.

Hope you can help me!

Each hero has their own weapon so 1/character , but I would advise against skipping it just because of that, the game is really fun

Hmm, I watched a couple of videos and already got the impression that there are not many weapons around. It also seems that the levels or areas are all somewhat similar.
I have to think a bit more about a purchase since I get bored quickly when there is not a lot of variety.
Thanks for your answer though! A lot of people say it's a good game so maybe I just have to trust that opinion.

What type of things do you enjoy in a game that keeps your interest? This game may surprise you depending.

In regards to your original post each character has their own weapon. As an example Mordred has as sword/shield. They also have their own armor. So Mordred is heavy armor.

While I think his armor and weapons are designed very well and look great, the looks won't change.

Now his "equipment slots" are where the sigils come in. They treat them like swapping weapons. These sigils are what determine the damage done, the armor pen, and any unique effects like bleeds ect. Armor is the same.

So for Mordred he uses heavy armor sigils and 1h weapon sigils which is how you can customize his stats, just not his looks.

The customization for this game comes in the characters themselves, not so much equipment. What I mean by that is fully upgraded you can only have 12 Knights, but there are around 30 knights to choose who will fill that roster and you can only take 4 on a mission at a time and about 6 classes. Of those 6 classes their skill trees can differ slightly (so Sir Kay and Sir Balan have slightly different skills even though both champion class).

Well, that's a tough one really. And I still haven't figured it out fully myself. To give you asomewhat lazy impression just before I hit the sack: what keeps me playing is a mix of a challenging difficulty, bloodniness, impeccable sound design, non-grindy unlockables, a coherent, adult mood, a good amount of variety in either levels or weapons, and certainly a game in which different approaches are possible.

To narrow it down to two somewhat similar games:

Warhammer - Martyr. While not being awfully similar to Knight's Tale, it still is by the same developers. I had a blast for the first 20 hours but soon got tired of the same 5 levels. Also, Martyr had a rather big variety of different guns and items and still I found it lackluster after 20 hours.
(Although I already know that the time will come that I will pick up the game again and will probably have the same amount of fun as earlier this year).

The other game is Battle Brothers. Let's not talk about its infamous RNG here. I keep playing the game for other reasons: it is challenging because you have to deliberately prepare yourself and pick your fights carefully; you have a huge amount of different enemies (even when you only count the human(oid) ones; there is a proper amount of different weapons and each weapon has its own quirks and requires tactics but also plays differently (has to be played differently) depending on the performance of the rest of your soldiers. Then you got a huge map with different biomes, a day and night cycle, suprises, strange things that happen, random events.
You got a simple loop of earning more coins to get better gear to survive more challenging contracts to earn more coins etc.

I understand that Knight's Tale is much more linear but that isn't necessarily a bad thing for me. But Battle Brothers' world feels unique and alive and it suprises you.

What is currently going for Knight's Tale is the very good voice acting, the impeccable sound design when you hit enemies, and the overall grim, dark tone without being over-the-top, a tone that has become very rare these days.

Anyways. Thank you very much for your detailed explanation on how the weapons (sigils) work, Wobbliest. It will definitively help me making an educated choice!

*Sorry for my bad English, it got late today.

English was great, and hope the night went well.

Anyway to help you make a decision I'm not sure this game will keep your interest for a binge session or for 4+ hour game sessions. It may be best to do 1 or 2 missions each day maybe an hour play a day etc....

I've played both games you referenced and this one will be closer to Martyr than BB. But a more accurate play style of game would be Xcom with how the customization/missions go (not as brutal).

Each mission map so far I haven't repetitiveness in design and they are beautifully done. Though I am only 5 missions in at this point as I just bought it on sale a few days ago.

One thing I was disappointed in as I have restarted multiple times is the dialogue options don't have any significant impact. If I choose to be a jerk vs polite the NPC gives the same canned response for dialogue when no game choice is involed. Once an actual choice is involved there is some variety. Example: selecting 1 knight vs the other, or to duel or just attack the room.

The story is engaging for me though, and I've found I have looked up each knights Autherian history and have enjoyed how the devs took the traditional stories and made them a part of each knights backstory so far, albeit sometimes with some dark twists.

Overall I would say it's worth picking up, though for you maybe wait for the next sale if you didn't get it on this one.

Either way enjoy gaming and now I may have to start another mercenary group in battle brothers lol
