But either way, u said it yourself, 'his two way journey through death... destroyed his good qualities' so this fictional take on a fictional character is explaining why king arthur is now bad.. i think they did a decent job in that regard

I totally agree. I love the unique take on Arthur. And you arent forced to be a "bad guy".
by the way, arthur is a real character not fictional
