Quitting a mission prior to main objective complete isn’t possible.
Once you’ve committed, you’re committed.
Dude its the 3rd battle lol. None of this is explained.
I had to leave 2 dudes in the hospice, and now I only have 3 chars.
Nor are there really any decisions I could have made on the campaign besides just bringing badly injured characters to battle.
I issued a move command by mistake in the first or second encounter of this map and now my char's HP/ARMOR/VIT are fckd and theres no way to finish. Only way would have been to restart the mission for the beginning which should be an EASY button for the developers to add.. they just soft lock you into this mission with no way out but starting a new game.
You should be able to return to the campaign at some cost.. or just via an auto save. Why should entering a battle end your entire save progress? Theres not even like a proper game over screen, its just youre stuck in this battle forever, good luck
Same here so odd as dont wanna bash yhim but something wrong in gameplay.. 5th mission no injuries and kinda find it so far easy as i change up the heroes + in most cases get an extra hero during a mission so dont see the issue really. I used a potion ONCE and really didnt have to was silly on my part. Lower your difficulty or change your game strategy as obviously wrong
You can call it strategy, or too hard of difficulty or whatever you like.
The fact is that it is possible, and the player does get soft locked into an infinite loop inside of a battle they cant get out of. (only reload)
The only way is to quit to main menu and start a new game.
There is something integrally wrong with this.
Except its not Game over... this is my entire effing point. its "Reload Battle from last checkpoint FOREVER"
I would be 100% happier with a "gameover return to main menu screen" than just "reload battle endlessly".
If its over, let it be over.
Okay my god man, come on.
Right now theres something awkward about "how the player loses/ends the game".
I started this thread, because i was legitimately confused about how I was stuck in an endless loop, not being able to do anything but reload this one battle.
Im fine with losing the game/seeing a defeat screen. Just make it clear.
Most games that feature some form of overworld campaign, don't have you lose the entire campaign from a battle. This is something pretty unique to this game, and therefore an easy pain point for most peoples mental models. Right now you see a defeat/battle loss screen, which makes it sound like you lost the battle, not the war.
If you don't see the confusion in this, thats fine man. The game works for you. Just stop arguing that the games perfect and theres nothing wrong with it. Let the developers parse this data and make changes if they deem it necessary.
I pretty much went through the same thing as you on my first attempt, made bad choices, did poorly in combat and didn't save on the map. I restarted and learned my lesson, my fault not the games fault.
I agree this should be explained better...I had left a couple dudes in the hospice and literally went in to "explore" lol...lost my save and was at the last battle in the mission.
And you can't change difficulty in a mission either...was just gonna easy it till I got out.
Just assumed I could leave at anytime..
If they put a prompt when entering a mission as a warning that would've solved my problem.
And while you dont find it problematic, I still think the game needs some warnings that being unable to complete a battle finishes your campaign. and the defeat screen from battle needs some kind of transition to exit that shows a sort of "end report / after action" screen as in, yes indeed you lost if you cant progress this point. We must close the game loop, not just leave the player in an un-winnable battle.
