Playing as a female MC
Hi everyone,

Apologies I could not find the answer to this question online. Aside from an article "women in Avalon" published on women's day, I couldn't find any references to this topic either, and all the Let's Play videos are from Early Access. Is it possible to play as a female Sir Mordred? Yes, I know, it says 'sir' but that doesn't mean anything. A Sith Lord is still a Sith Lord regardless of gender ;)

I'm not here to spark debates on realism or loyalty to the original myth, I'm just a woman who enjoys playing women in RPGs and I would like to know before I buy the game.

Thanks!

the "MC" is mordred. period. The story does revolve on him but there are female playable characters with dialogue and side stories. Mordred is also not required in all missions but there are missions that require specific characters.

Thanks, appreciate the quick response.
In addition to what was stated by datcu

Many side characters also have a mission or two that explore the characters involvement in the story. So if you're a female who prefers to play female characters, you'll have the option. Though the MC is set in stone.

The first female character is unlocked in the second mission if I recall correctly.
One is unlocked through the morality system.
Two more also are unlocked through the story.
Not sure if any more are, since I only just started Act 3.

However I would have to disagree about the Sith Lord bit, as a characters aesthetics and personality vary greatly depending on their sex.

No there is not a female Mordred although why would you skip a good game just becuase you play as a man. You do have female playable characters aswell. I am a male and play plenty of games with both genders dont limit yourself.

I am a straight guy and mostly play female characters because I don't like the stereotypical Western alpha males. Eastern Shonen males are okay. I also prefer looking at a nice bouncy female ass frankly lol

Everyone's got their preference.

I'm not saying I would necessarily "skip a good game" and limit my gaming options just because of this issue. The Witcher 3 is a case in point, excellent game. It's just that generally speaking I appreciate having the choice. Playing female makes a story more immersive for me. It doesn't mean I won't play the game, but it's something I like to check before making a purchase.

some games can give this option as a choice and some games can't due to the story.

I mean... nothing is stopping you from RP'ing one of the female knights as the MC. Mordred is the focal point but you have plenty of options when it comes to characters who have their own personalities and stories. Not sure why you'd buy a game that revolves around the Knights of the Round Table and whine about 'stereotypical Western alpha males' but I guess that's the modern gaming community.

totally get your preference. i won't play games that force me to play a woman for mc.

So we are rewriting history for political correctness now? Or is this just a troll thread to pick a fight ?Whats wrong with other cool historical female characters in the game ? there are plenty.

True... can't this one though? I'm genuinely asking as I haven't seen much of the story yet and sure canonically Mordred is male, but you already have female fighters alongside the men, so is there actually a part of the story that would break if Mordred started as a woman and everyone just acted as if he'd always been one?

You could just use your imagination. maybe in your game Mordred is female with a very masculine voice, that people get her gender confused and call her sir due to the very masculine voice.

Bruh you know that the King Arthur tale is just a fictional story right? I'm not advocating for changing the sex of the MC but it wouldn't be changing history if they did. It would be altering fiction. :LaughingOwlcat:

You're kidding right? We're talking about a game with magic and walking corpses, and the OP wasn't asking for Mordred to be made female for everyone, just for the option to choose.

Funnily enough there was at least one Sith Lord that referred to herself as a "Lady of the Sith" and she was pretty badass, had a lightwhip and nearly killed Luke a few times.
