Changes will not likely to come in this regard nor character customization is planned at the moment as we felt more important to make all the heroes clearly distinguishable, unique and fitting to their nature than to implement customization which can alter the looks based on one's own taste.
I absolutely understand no changes coming, based on the early access time estimates and how much of the game is already in place. And, truth be told, it is a small complaint considering how much I enjoyed the rest of the game, so its by no means a deal breaker from the game for me. I get that while I might find him to be too exaggerated, that is something of a personal taste thing.
However, in regards to "staying true to the character", which seems to be the crux of why he's designed the way he is, falls a bit flat when considering the game is a choice based game where we, the player, control Mordred. While very little of the story is implemented right now so I can't accurately speak to his characterization moving forward, I do think if our decisions change his character how it seems like they will it might make sense for him to visually change as well. Like if I max out righteousness and he looks exactly the same it might be off putting. Though that depends if the righteous/tyrant thing really effects Mordred's character all that much.
But, I'm not the game nor story designer, and I don't know what yall have planned, so obviously I can't speak with much expertise on the matter. These are just my initial thoughts and I'm excited to see how this game pans out moving forward.
Thanks for your feedback!
His design has way too many spikes sticking from everywhere (pauldrons, alright thats cool, wow a bone crown too? Yikes a full set of bone teeth on his shield), and his helmet looks like the front of an old time locomotive (instead of a skull) The Black and Red colourpallette is the icing on the this edgy edgelord cake. If you removed the spikes he would still look menacing as hell, esp. compared to the other heroes, or maybe just reduce the spikes to for example, one big spike on the shield or maybe just a more classic 2 horns on the helmet.
But I'm guessing it was kept this way hoping to entice the younger generation to gravitate towards the game and it's anti-hero.
