Are all mushrooms to be found the game place in the same locations for everyone who plays? Or are they randomly placed in each player's game? After opening 3 sections of the country and 4 locations, I still haven't found any of the "special" ones. Then, after watching a video, I went back to a location I'd already visited (thanks to your raft fix), and nothing was there, not the "special" item or a respawn of what I had previously found, which didn't correlate with the video showing the "special" item. That's what made me wonder. And are both shrooms and animals to be found at night and does it matter if one uses camera night vision or the headlamp I haven't yet acquired? Thanks.

The mushrooms will spawn "randomly" to a degree. The reason why the markers are helpful is that you'll often times find that morels are likely to grow in places where you've already found some in the same game but in a prior day. This is similar to their growth behavior in nature. We tried to make as much as possible dynamic in nature so that the game retains replay-ability. And yes, both mushrooms and animals can be found at night regardless of whether or not you're wearing a head lamp. Although the head lamp does make finding them a great deal easier.

Thank you very kindly, sir! That helps. I'm still looking for my first "special" item in the first section by the cabin in the woods but the raft was not there on my last visit to that spot. Is this normal? (I had placed a marker so I could find my way there). Does the randomness also apply to the one "special" morel in each section of the country?

The raft only appears at certain times of the day. My wife and I had the same problem.

For some reason, I can only find poison mushrooms in georgia. I have been here for days, and the only mushroom I could find was the gold one!!

reloading the game fixed it. That was frustrating, not one mushroom in 5 days lol

What causes sections of areas to be opened? So far only Southeast has more than one and I have played South West, Midwest and New England. Do I need to reload the game?

New sections open when so many days pass. If you keep playing they will automatically unlock. If you hover over the map it tells you how many days are needed before that section is revealed.
If you are talking about regions within regions then they don't all have more than one. Some areas only have one region.

I have played all but two regions so far and have left a lot of mushroom markers around. During the time I was in the region playing, each day I would go back to my markers and there were plenty of mushrooms for me to harvest.
I left that region to play another but was having difficulty finding mushrooms so I went back to the tried and tested areas to bump up my mushroom total. The mushrooms were no longer showing on any of the flagged areas. In fact, there didn't seem to be any mushrooms anywhere.
Is this a bug? It was quite frustrating to find no mushrooms anywhere. I now feel like the game has reached a stalemate for me.

Thanks Janner, so far the only place with more than one was the South East. I have had the same problem with no mushrooms in flagged areas after leaving a region for a time. I see where one person did a reload and it helped. Ill try it tomorrow. Thanks for your help

No worries Ever. Good luck hunting those mushrooms! I am about to unlock the penultimate area and will continue the game until I finish a whole season at least. I'll let you know if there are any more regions like the South East.
