What is better for new player? This or remake?

They both look great. I've heard great things.
Remake has more modern visuals but has the game-play also been updated to bring in things like QOL or features from the later games?

Or is 3 better because the visuals are more simple but the game-play is more evolved as its later in the series (on the assumption the dev learned a bunch while making the games so 3 would be the best of the bunch if remake is just a graphics overhaul)

Will probably buy both but only have so much time so its more about which one should i actually play for the best overall experience.

I'm more drawn to the visuals of Remake and am assuming it will have the more modern game design if its more than just a visual overhaul?

I play the non-Remake version and it's Great. Having grown up with ASCII-based Roguelikes in the 80's the proof of a Good Game is in it's Engine [as opposed to Graphics].
That being said I am also saving up for the Remake - the Engine appears to be almost identical and the Graphics a nice spin-up of the Original.
Both Look to play the same - so your call..!

I'll probably take this one for a spin first and then if i enjoy it try remake.

The remake is for the original 9th Dawn that came out in 2012, not 9th Dawn III which was just released a few years ago. I haven't played the remake yet, but I can certainly recommend 9th Dawn III (as well as 9th Dawn II which I think is almost as good).

Oh yeah sorry i did realise that it was a remake of the original. I should have phrased it better.

My thoughts were if it was a remake that also overhauled gameplay mechanics to bring them in line with the more recent games.
