"Meaningful loot: Every item serves a function, and every character class has many options when it comes to finding the perfect equipment. Even the most common spear can be upgraded via affix crafting, and with the right ingredients, you may even forge it into a unique item spoken of only in legend!"
That's all we know so far.
I also remember developers long ago mentioned something amongst the lines "they like diablo 2 and wanted to make a similar experience". Don't take that word for word. Diablo 2 is really really old and I understand its an important brand that is continued through poe 1 and now last epoch. Browsing through 20 items i find every 5 minutes, browsing my stash stabs, placing 50 items that i might use in stash tabs and then browsing that too later on, making my loot filter then changing it as i progress. All of these things feel like a chore to me. I have seen them and done them enough times.
Developers talk about meaningful loot but that section can be interpreted in so many ways. I would love some clarification/thoughts perhaps.
Yes I've played elden ring more than all other arpgs combined. Do i want TQ 2 to be souls like? Most certainly not, but elden ring is the beginning of the next generation of rpg gaming and from many interesting things I've heard, I'm certain Titan quest 2 will be exactly that and more, but certain diablo 2 systems that persist after all these decades concern me
Suddenly, every ARPG is getting a dodge (even Grim Dawn) and mounts are a thing. And some of it's cinematic world presentation and traversal like climbing are already used in Diablo 4 as well. And Path of Exile 2 is apparently supposed to be a very different game from its predecessor, with slower but more methodical combat. And its bosses will not only be more difficult with telegraphed attacks, but they will also have stagger bars. And yeah, that sounds a lot like Lost Ark.
Not sure why Souls is brought so much in that context, since it's still a different genre. Not only because of the POV, but also because its combat is mostly 1 vs 1 or against small groups. Only No Rest for the Wicked seems to go into a clear isometric Souls direction.
And I'm personally all for more focus on quality combat, because despite not being a big fan of all the MMO crap in Lost Ark, its combat is just exceptional. And while I do appreciate some ideas in Last Epoch, its combat just bored me to death.
And I do hope that with all the end game discussions going on, Titan Quest 2 will not forget that a fun campaign is important. For all the bashing Diablo 4 received, at least it had a good enough campaign that enough people reached the end game to complain about it to cause a ruckus.
ps i play original tq
