Broken? Bad Port? Worth Getting?

I dug the hell out of this game (and the first one) when I played it on console. Now, I only have my gaming rig. There's currently a sale for this on Humble Bundle and I'm considering getting it.

But I remember reading many reviews that said it wouldn't run on Window 10 or that it was a bad port. Is that still the case? Or are there fan patches available that fix some or most of the issues?

i played this on pc 5 years ago, it aint at all a bad port and i very much enjoyed it, however yes, it doesnt work on windows 10, though a fix has been posted in another discussion and people have been confirming that it works.

So against my better judgement, I bought it. I tried it first without any patches or fix and...it surprisingly worked okay for me. There was one major freeze that forced me to restart the game, but aside from that, there were no other issues like the FPS.

I also heard there were issues for AMD card users. I have an AMD card and so far haven't run into any continuous issues.

I'll definitely look into that fix, just in case, though. Thank you.

All right, I don't know if this is a bug for anyone else, but during the Salvation mission (mission 9), one of the objectives is weaponize a TOW launcher.

Except, no matter how much I mash the X button, it won't come off.

Has anyone else experienced a glitch like this?

I started a new play through today, however its on a new game + and i havent reached that part yet, i'll let you know what happens when i get there.

I restarted the game and it worked out okay. Still, keep an eye out during that mission.

I had no issues ripping off that TOW launcher, maybe its because you are playing with a controller that it messed it up or it was just some random one time bug.

Strange. Yeah, it must've been a one-time bug. With the other issues with the game, it wouldn't surprise me.

Just to be sure, I'll rip off more TOWs. You know. For science. =p

Just finished it for the second time, 5 years later and it worked just fine. Had a couple of moments where it froze but that was it. I play on Windows 10 so thats not your issue if it doesn't work.

just finished it for the 2nd time aswell, 100% achievements hell yeah! my only issue was the crash on startup, for which a fix can be found all over these forums :P

It ran like crap on my HD5850 and HD7950. It would run a little better with the Raptr? utility (I think that is what it was called) on AMD cards. When I bought a GTX 1070 it runs great. Honestly the only two games in my library I ever had an issue running due to AMD GPU was this game and GTA IV.

I 100%'ed this game in May of 2017, so there are for sure ways to get it working as intended, or work around some of it's other issues, however that was 4 years ago, so I don't think I can help.

Is it not possible to fully quit the mission, do a bunch of free roaming things to unlock some more stuff and then return back to the mission? I think that could have some degree of effect.
