How do I find Nio? I messed up the time limit

This is my first atelier game, I'm on year 2, month 8, and I spent so many days just messing about doing little alchemies. I have 3 quests with stars now ("magic topics" "prospector party" "listless ernie"), but I don't know if I'll be able to find Nio before march of year 3.

Which quest should I follow to get to Nio the fastest? Is there any way I can get Nio at this point, should I give up? :(

Well if you don't make it in time you get an ending and can do NG+ at that point, where you can rush through the game a lot more easily to get the good ending. So that's a consideration.

It is mentioned in a pretty offhanded manner by Keithgriff right at the start of the game.

I have four flowers and two other ones (Poro and Homunculs). I heard there's supposed to be 2 other ones that only happens specifically at year 2 but I'm at year 3 so how do I trigger the final part of getting Nio? I'm at year 3 and month 6 and don't want to move around because that will waste time.
