There will definitely not be any official patch; no version of the story since the 2002 PC release has had any R18 scenes, and Aquaplus doesn't develop R18 games any more.

It's not impossible that somebody could make a fan patch, but I'd say it's highly unlikely since the game engines are completely different, the original art is much lower-res and the wrong aspect ratio, and the original game didn't have any voice acting, so they'd be completely silent anyway.
Damn, put me in the middle of the position about whether to buy this one or not >_>

No. Aquaplus' 18+ brand Leaf is long dead and they moved on from 18+ content.

Not possible. The game was designed ground up to be AA. If you really want to play with H scenes play the original, it still actually has charm coz of its 2d sprites.

I will admit tho as someone who enjoys uncensored eroge that a lot of the H in original Utaware really felt hella out of place... The game honestly doesn't need it, and is better off as AA with the exception of maybe ONE scene. The rest is quite awkward feeling.

Was the first release not R18?

The 2002 PC version of the game was R18, but it got a port to the PS2 in 2006 that replaced all of the R18 scenes; that got ported to the PSP in 2009, and that version of the game got a full remake for the PS4/Vita in 2018. This PC release is a port of the PS4 version; I don't know if calling it "AA" is really appropriate because it's got an M rating at the plot-relevant sex still happens, it's just not explicitly shown on screen, but it's true that this specific version of the game was designed from the ground up without any R18 scenes.

So the original game was for PC? Is it the same name or was the name different?

The original game was just "Utawarerumono" (well, うたわれるもの, there was no English release). If you go looking for it, it's not published on any digital distribution services, but you can sometimes find used copies of the CD/DVD release of the game on Japanese used goods or auction sites.

I don't know why you'd neglect to mention that there was an English translation patch.
You can play original version with English translation and patched in voiceover from PS2 version. R18 scenes would still be unvoiced as they never were voiced. And it all will be in glorious 640x480 as we've used to play back in a day.

But to be fair, Utawarerumono is, maybe, the only game that actually benefits from the removal of R18 scenes. Most of them felt forced, boring and nonsensical in original release except of maybe... 1? Or 2? That's just for my taste, though, so treat this statement as opinion and nothing more.

Fan translation was made by Mirror Moon, and patch supports voice files from PS2 release. But all honestly, with remake at hand there's little reason to play it. Story is the same, and art looks gorgeous even in 480p, but gameplay wise it's barebone and with some less-than-well-thought gameplay/balancing choices. You can't even replay battles in original release.

Well, and if you REALLY want to see these scenes, there are, ahem, "specialized" sites for that ;-)

There was also Aselia the Eternal, where they removed almost all sexual content and replaced it with good character storys. They even redrew a lot of the artworks in this one.
