I'm not sure how the video you're watching is trying to do it, but you should never have to dodge at all. This trial is very simple; on Kiwru's first round, have him jump across the bridge, but stay at the edge of it so the soldier doesn't have room to move up to you. On the second round, hit the training target with the first hit of Fukuryubai; you have to cancel it so that you don't do the second hit. After that, you win.
