Yes I realize that lol. And there are many times when I do just that. I was talking about a group of people doing it together though. And teamplay takes some convincing in this game. That would force everybody to work together as a team.
The proposed new version will allow fast travel while encumbered (over encumbered is bad grammar and means nothing) for extra caps cost.
Next there'll be 'mule' fatties wandering around everywhere... (until they stuff up and go over the maximum carry weight limit).

You have a good sense of humor. I actually despise Fasnacht and refuse to buy from vendors with tons of masks for sale....because we know how they got them.
No fast travel just means *MORE* AFKers. [BTW-this is my Alt]
Why can't we have nice things?
I can't wait for fast travel to be an option again. Then I can make it to the Scorchbeast Queen, and other events that, I'm missing plans for. I don't have to walk to, all my nuke events, that I launch. I have a bunch of key cards to use.
And not have to worry about, no players going, because nobody wanted to start the event or join it.
Travel on Team Player on Death, is not reliable, and can get you kicked from the server, because it seems to remove you from your team.
It will be nice to have the option to fast travel again, I would have been nice to have a bicycle to "sprint speed" To get to events, but Fast Travel works.
As to Weight, Nuke cards add, up. Figuring out Aid. Once you learn all the plans, and where to get the crafting items, and how to craft with "Super-duper" & "Chemist" the aid crafting to the maximum amount. At least, with fast travel, cut that weight down, easier to get supplies, but over production, .
I have been walking, for the past 4 years, I miss fast travel.
