4 or 5 star legendaries?
I'm poking around in endgame content now.
I've dropped the nuke. I rode the Hasslehoff. And some other third thing.

But I haven't found any way to get higher than a three star legendary, but the UI clearly has up to 5 stars? Is it possible to get those? Or is it just something they built into the UI for possible expansion?

Cursed weapons are the only 4* weapons so far. That may change some day, but they haven't used it beyond that yet.

Gotcha, so 3-star is basically it then. Thanks.

Cursed effect and other similar effects aren't legendary star effects, they are "Special Effects" and several weapons have them like Gunther's Big Iron, Grand Finale, Love Tap etc.

They flirted with the 4th star for a while in a PTS and that implementation was met with disgust by the playerbase because it was so bad. The “good” thing was that extra star could only be added by a player in the mod screen. The “bad” things were that the stars were extremely lame, and they made it where the items could no longer be traded. Even if it was a previously tradeable item. For example, put a 4th star on a Fixer, and you could no longer trade or sell it.

Most were bad, a couple were stupidly OP so that you would only have ever used the one or maybe the other

IIRC one had a stagger effect

They made 3* in fo4 with the intent to do expansions with 4 and 5 star, but kind of abandoned that concept

in this game you do have guns that are effectively 4-9 star weapons

with the nuka launcher being a good example of a broken at least 9 star gun

When the first cursed weapons came out with Earl, that wasn't the case. I haven't looked closely since I've been back, but the Cursed moniker and the special effects were two different things, even tho they didn't over lap. Cursed weapons back then did actually have that 4th star, but it may have changed since then.

I have never seen a cursed weapon with 4 stars. Only weapon I know that had actual 4th star was 3-star machete with sacrificial blade mod but that got changed ages ago.

yeah the Cursed Pickaxe and....whatever the second one he drops is, were both 4 star items at first. I think I took a break a few months after that tho, so I wasn't around long after they were added.

No, they had just 3 stars. Don't know if they had 4th when the event was still on PTS but they never had 4 stars on public. Here's ATs video about the drops posted 5 days after the event launched on public and all have 3 stars. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErIn7bX53d8
