Whatever you do, don’t move your camp when given that opportunity unless you really want to move camps. You have a better shot at winning the billion dollar lottery than placing your camp down successfully in a new location.
There is something else you can do if you really want to be on that specific server. Every player gets two free camp slots. Each is totally separate from the other one. So you can build camp one at a location near the Wayward, and Camp two over by Watoga. Once you have those two camps built, you can swap between them with minimal disruption.
Please note that using camp 2 requires going to the map, and in the upper left selecting the second camp slot. Once it has been selected, camp 1 disappears into the ether, and camp 2 phases in. If you have not built camp 2, then you would need to go to the new location and place the camp device from the Pipboy menu. If you have not selected camp 2, you will accidentally move camp 1. And have no camp until you build it.
And everybody does that once.
When I started out, I placed my first camp up north near Vault 51. Then switched to second camp, but I don't recall when I did or how. Thought my camp was gone. Got annoyed so built a second camp (thinking it was my first and I just lost it). Played for months before I figured out I could have multiple camps and my first camp was actually still there, but needed to "switch" to it on the map.
