Grenade Launchers
Which is better? M79 or Auto Grenade Launcher?

m79 may have some use in VATS or a specific build, perhaps with the right legendary effects, but my experience with a godroll and gearing for it is that it was a complete waste of time. 2 shot on the auto shreds, with a faster fire rate it makes the auto-grenade launcher one of the most hated weapons in the game - you can steal about 1/2 the total experience gains at a public event with 6 other players, which people often use it for; it's a fairly rude thing to use at public events unless you share kills or there weren't enough players to show up - it can save an event from failing, as well.

AGL hands down. No contest.

Two-shot both are good and fun. Faster reload is good too. I like the Auto Grenade Launcher better though. I dont know why...unrighteous bias maybe.

Some good Fallout 76ers talking about M79.

Captainoob (Just as good as Angry Turtle).

OX76 is a M79 "specialist".

I much prefer just throwing Dynamite Bundles.

Don't know if it's mentioned in those videos but M79 is considered a heavy weapon and benefits from heavy weapon perks (not heavy gun ones though).

Reload and weight reduction mostly. VATS homing shots and it can be fun. Main downside is ammo usage and resupply.

Was thinking....15% reload speed on the gun. 30% heavy gun reload speed. With Speed Demon - movement speed +20%, faster reload +20%. That would be pretty sweet. My thinking is that at some point the animation just dont play out. Not sure if its at 50% or 65% reload speed reduction. No, not talking about glitches or anything. Cant get 100%.

Maybe Quick Hands perk card too.

Quick hands won't work because it's a single shot. Reload speed has no upper limit as it's some odd inverse mathematics.

Without doing the research... 100% reload reduction (if possible) would be half the animation time, that inverse maths stuff.

Edit: After some research. Not 100% sure if Fallout works this way though...

Reducing reload speed is normally reload time/(1+percentage). For example: 1 second reload with 100% reduction (200% overall). 1/(1+1)=0.5

M79 has a default 3s reload. 65% reduction is 3/1.65=1.82s

Everything stacks. Looks good to me.

Angry Turtle talk about rifle reload speed in this clip. Heavy guns are designed to reload slower, but the math and animation of the reload mechanic should be the same.

M79 is single round weapon, even if its a heavy gun, clips with fewer bullets reload faster. If not by math then by animation. So, for that specific gun a 1.82 sec animation might seem like instant. Just add server lag and all that. The animation wount get processed, possibly because the server view it as pointless. Not 100 on that but it wouldnt surprise me.

Just please don't use either in events like Radiation Rumble.

I took the camera shake setting off and, although still irritating, it's not too bad anymore when people use explosives in small area events.
