"You can't do that while in power armor"

Simple message, except I'm not IN power armor, not even remotely.. I just started the game lol

Is there a fix for this?

Strange. I’ve never had that happen out of PA.

Not saying it’s not possible. Just never seen it happen.

Have you tried just restarting the game?

Edit: There can be several issues with power armor and related effects, but if the game says you are in power just because, something might got stuck, a restart might help.
Heck, just try going to the main menu and back in again.

I suggest just verifying the integrity of the game files.

The servers are weird today; yours is not the only inconsistency, OP. Might give it a day if it's super glitch-y on your end.

Weird indeed. I thought my PA disappeared, while I was working on it at PA station.
Kept getting "Power Armor will be recalled to your inventory" messages, but it didn't.

Fortunately it was back in my inventory upon reloading.

Last night I deployed my PA at Most Wanted. It never spawned in and then finally returned to my inventory. At the same time, I never saw any robots including the boss. I also never saw any other people. But the event succeeded.

Sounds like server lag, or UI glitch. A lot of glitches are caused by the server too slow to give feedback (and/or the correct feedback) to the player. Next Tuesday June 20th when the season starts, server stability will be more of a problem because the player count usually goes up on the first day of the season.

I had something similar just a few days ago. Put newly rolled parts on a chassis down in a PA station to add mods and skins. Started to add skins and exited to look at it since the dumb UI covers everything below the waist so you cannot see what your PA looks like properly.

When i tried to go back in all options were greyed out. Couldn't do anything. Also would not auto return to my inventory. Only just finished rolling all the parts and i thought i was going to lose it.

Exited game and reloaded back in and it still was not in my inventory, but several minutes later I got the power armour being recalled message and it finally came back. Very lucky to get it back. Did not want to lose it after rolling it and never getting to actually use it, lol.

Very odd. Never had anything like this ever happen in over 4k hours. Servers had been really great for weeks, best I have ever had, and the last several days they have been poop again.

You must restart game, Power armor is so broken in this game. Entering or leaving stuck your character so offten, and this bug happen if you interact with something fast after you enter to power armor. No fix but restart.

I had to restart once because I got stuck, that was fine, not really an issue for me as the game starts up in like 20 seconds, however I figured out more information about the issue in question:

Some guy dropped us (me and my friend) two power armors, (thank you kind stranger), and only my friend was able to interact with either two, for whatever reason, he tried dropping them, getting in and out, etc etc until it just worked at one point, not even sure how, why or when it fixed. But it did, my friend dropped it, I picked it up, and I could interact with it again, thankfully. I had restarted before, and it gave the same error, so I was unsure if I was ever gonna be able to use power armor LOL

I mean even daily quests are broken since release lol
