About the Mole event that is happening now...
I watched a video and the youtuber was saying that we can get legendary modules when we open these Mole miners pail boxes, I opened few but I just got random crap. Am I missing something?

I'm pretty sure pails don't drop legendary modules, just have a chance to drop scrip. (20% chance with medium and ornate pails)

OP, keep in mind there are 3 different things people talk about when they talk about "scrip"

you can get straight scrip: which is not shown anywhere in your inventory, its just the "currency" number in your collections tab, with caps/gold/everything else

there are legendary modules, these are shown in the MISC tab

and then there are just 1/2/3 star legendary items (a lot of people use the word interchangeably because they just mean they want to get legendary items that they are just going to immediately sell in the legendary machine for scrip)

And then I guess you have to keep in mind "legendary cores" are seperate too.
But they only drop from very specific things, and they also go under the MISC tab.

yeah right the youtube was actually talking about scripts which he then turned into module at the shop, I should have kept an eye on my script before buying them

Yeah, people call crappy legendary drops "scrip" since they are only good for getting legendary scrips from legendary exchange machine, although haven't heard anyone use "scrip" when they talk about legendary modules. Those are usually called just "modules".
Legendary modules can be bought with legendary scrip from Purveyor, also you get them from scoreboard and expeditions.
You get legendary cores from public events (the ones with exclamation mark in event icon), seasonal events and daily ops. Double mutation weekends give double cores from ops.
Whole legendary system and gazillion different currencies is "a bit" confusing to new players, whole game economy is a mess and takes some time to learn.

If you are just after scrip pails aren't that great, do one Eviction Notice or Radiation Rumble and you'll get way more scrip from it with tons of XP. It's just 20% chance to get 5-100 scrip from pails and empty medium pails cost around 600-700 caps even with good discounts. Pails are worth it if you are after rarer plans, then buy mid-size empty pails and craft your own.

the crafted pails have better loot rates than the ones that drop from the hunters. the medium pail is the best in terms of event drops and cap to scrip ratio.

I have gotten 5, 10, 25, and 50 scrip from them (Crafted Mole Miner Pail). A few rare-ish plans (scorched tube, one of the hunter's outfits, I forget what else - they're in the vendor). And then the ammo/junk.

Buying a pail from a vendor has to be the worst use of caps.
Buy the ornate pail, build at tinker bench, breakdown in Aid menu; get some random low value stuff you already have tons of.

You never buy the ornate ones.
Rookie mistake.

The medium ones is where it's at, but granted the drop rates are still terribad.
Still miles better than the rando drops from treasure hunter miners.

This. Crafted medium pails have same chance for rare drops than ornate pails looted from treasure hunters, and while crafted ornate pail has a bit higher rare drop chance than crafted medium one they cost 3 times more so you get higher chance to get rare drops from 3 medium pails than from one ornate pail for the same amount of caps.

What they said, NEVER buy the ornate ones.

Additionally, don't buy them without doing the best you can to minimize cost, grape mentats and such. Last one I bought was 646c iirc.

And since the Holiday Scorched event is coming soon need to add that same goes with gift wraps, always buy the medium ones.
