Bethesda account and steam are being weird

i first purchased fallout 76 for the first time in my life today and when booting up i loaded into the main menu already logged into an account name ive never seen in my life, i decided to go to bethesda.net to link my steam profile to it and was unable to do so and it said (account linking failed) this error message according to bethesda themselves means my steam account is already linked to another bethesda account but i have no other accounts, also fallout 4 which is linked to the same steam account has no issues and is me, any advice or help will be greatly appreciated

EDIT : forgot to add been into the bethesda.net tab in the main menu and pressed the resend verification email and ive not received any email and its been over 20 minutes as of the time this post was made

Open a ticket with Bethesda and they can fix it.

Be advised that once you open a ticket, do not go back to it asking for updates until they send you an email. Any update requests pushes it to the end of the line.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did, thanks for the help! Especially with the Doom 64 thing, I never would've found out what that email was.

How would i be able to do that without the email or password for that account?

People had this happen with Steam + Red Dead 2; they launched the game for first time from Steam and because of that it magically made some new Rockstar account link occurred essentially creating a new Rockstar account with your steam name or email name that you now don't even know or can log in to. You would have to contact Bethesda, provide proof of your Steam account (such as the Steam associated Steam ID# & Email) and have them do an unlink of that Steam account so you can then link YOUR steam to YOUR bethesda account.
