Is fallout 1st needed?
I’m on the fence about getting this on sale having played the other Fallouts and enjoyed them.

How much does the subscription impact the games experience as in does not having it make it more tedious? I have read it does affect storage space and was wondering if storage becomes essential and without the subscription, does it become a pain to manage?

Also, I’d be looking to play this solo for the most part and was wondering how playable this is solo?

Storage space is effected, having fallout 1st gives you infinite scrap storage, which if you're a hoarder helps immensely, however, once you've played for a while you realise you don't need 90% of what drops, caps are worthless, and there's very little junk you actually need for repairs, when I first started I cursed constantly at the storage limits, but these days, my stashes are rarely even half full.

1st also gives you some cosmetic freebies, and occasional bonus deals(unsure of this one these days) access to private worlds(which are largely worthless as the valuable events are near impossible to clear solo)

You can run around without a group fine, if you wanna run the events though there will be other players turn up, you don't even have to communicate with them though, just try to get some shots in while that one guy with the glitched/hacked gun kills everything.

Thanks for the info! In that case think I will pick it up and give it a go whilst it’s on sale.

Biggest part you get is private adventure. If you go public lobbies prepare to have your events get rushed by 400+ level players.

Nice to have. That´s it. A litlle inventory managment and you don´t need it. Collecting and beeing a hoarder is another story though. But you can play without just fine.

If you are a packrat horder, then the game is nearly unplayable without fallout 1st. It punishes you relentlessly.

Even with trying to actively dial down my OCD loot goblin tendencies, I still constantly ran out of space. Spent a huge amount of time breaking down and scrapping things, and then make these horrible decisions about keep this, but scrap that, etc.

No, it is not.

If you want to play the game seriously, it is unfortunately needed because the benefits it brings are literally fixing how the base game cripples you.

That is the best way to decided...Try it and see if you like it or not!

Pro tip: If storage becomes a problem, sub to Fallout 1st for one month and spend the entire month filling up your unlimited storage with as much as you can. Once the sub expires, you still can withdraw from your unlimited stash but you can't add any new stuff. If you scrap a lot during the month then you could have enough stuff saved up to last you for a long time.

Also, a free month of Fallout 1st is given out a couple of times a year.

Bonus tip: All the gear you get for being a Fallout 1st member stays with you when the sub expires. You can still use all those exclusive free outfits and gear!
