Does anyone think this game is underrated?
Seriously if you can look past the engine jank and the occasional bugs, Fallout 76 is a pretty good game with lots of care put into it. I just spent a long session listening to all the lore/holotapes in the beginning area of Flatwoods, and there's so much depth to the world building here. The gameplay of acquiring legendaries with the correct effects feels unironically fun too. Also love how chill and helpful the community is.

As a veteran player i know / understand there are bugs in the game but i never... ever had problems with it. I like FO76 very much.

Specially like all the events and do as much of them as i like / want. Also like to work read farm for rare items in the game, mods, gear you name it and have quite a few of them over the years.

Anyway happy to see some positive feedbacks / comments in here and i mean it caus the game deserves it.
yeah i think it's a lot better than people give it credit for, my only real problem with the game is the way Bethesda monetizes it. Sometimes, it feels a little too much like nickel and diming.
I treat fallout 76 like any other game in the entire fallout franchise. There's a story, quests, things to do, and crafting. With the exception of some really strange weirdly dressed NPC's (I'm talking about other players), it plays out like any other fallout game. It's worth the cost of buying it (at least to me) and it was worth the time to play it.
Just repurchased it today, had played it awhile back on gamepass after not wanting to touch it and found it pretty enjoyable. Could pretty much just play it like any other Fallout, for the most part. Also felt better than 4, if that makes sense. Can be some fun with pals, too.

But can you treat it like any other Bethesda game when every other Bethesda game - at least within the TES franchise - is single player, and this is a multiplayer?

I have all the TES games, except this one. When I saw it was going to be an MMO, I felt it wouldn't work. And for the most part, I was right, according to what I have seen and read about the game.

However, something "weird" happened just now. I saw the game promoted on sale for less than 8 bucks, so I went and took a look. On the store page it was indeed available for less than 8 bucks, but it was also available for zero bucks....

That's right, there was - or there is - a tab saying "Play now". So I clicked the button, and the game is installing as I write this. I wonder if there's a catch? ... Anyway, if I can indeed try the game out for free, I'm not going to say no thanks to that. And who knows, maybe I will change my mind about the game and play it like I would any other Bethesda game. :)
As of now I've put just over 400 hours in the game. I've got my moneys worth and I've had a ton of fun playing this game. Now to be fair, I didn't get the game when it dropped so I didn't experience some of the issues others did. I don't play nearly as much as I used to, but that's mainly because there's not a whole lot left for me to do in the game. As far as progress goes once you're level several hundred/several thousand there's not a lot of progress left to be made.

I still pop in from time to time to play with my legendary weapons and do some public events. The One Wasteland update and change to additive damage from multiplicative took a great deal of fun out of the game for me, forced me into a build I just don't enjoy and I haven't played nearly as much since then. However, there's still plenty of fun to be had in the game and it's not nearly as bad as a lot of reviews/opinions make it out to be. Honestly I think I enjoyed my early game way more than the late game, which is rare for me. Unfortunately the previous mentioned changes made a lot of enemies into bullet sponges, which just doesn't do it for me. Still glad I played the game though.
Yes, I do.

I'm a huge fan of the Fallout franchise, have been since the 1997 original, and I always wanted a multiplayer version. However, when F76 dropped, I was very weary of it because I wasn't sure how they would pull it off and not ruin what I enjoyed about the modern versions, F3 and F4. I also let the negative reviews sway me.

In Feb 2023, I decided to finally bite the bullet and buy the game.

2700+ hours and 657 levels later. It's safe to say I was happy with F76.

My wife and I play together and I have no intentions of stopping anytime soon. Yes, the game has it's issues, and I complain about them often, but it's still a great deal of fun for me. I wish I had gotten into it much sooner.

Why did you repurchase it? Did the game pass version expire? I thought you would need the base version before you can purchase a game pass version?

But more over, did you not find a button saying "Play now" without any charge? That's what I found when I looked up the game just a few minutes ago, and I'm downloading the game as I writ this - without having ever bought neither the base game version nor the game pass version.

It seems not everybody can download for free. So I wonder if it's because I have bought everything else in the TES franchise? I don't know. Guess I'll have to wait and see when the download is completed. Maybe they'll ask me to pay before I can launch the game... or something. :)

The way I understood it, and the way it looks to me on the videos I have seen, this is a continuation of Fallout 4.

One of the things people critized about the game is that they reused all the graphics and mechanics from Fallout 4, and that the game was empty, had no NPCs (but I've read thie was changed along the way, so that now there is some life in the game in the form of NPCs even if you're the only one online).

I'm wishing us both luck! ;D
I've had more fun in FO76 than I've had in many other online games, very few are ones I actively just want to spend time wandering around in like I do with this game. I think it's very underrated, I just wish Bethesda would be quicker at providing bug updates or updates in general.
The stash is a scam, the inventory UI is janky af, i hate the non-PA op damage builds(at least the low-health) from couple of years ago, don't know yet how things now are, i just came back. Killing a level 75 scorchbeast with normal weapons takes 15 minutes and 5 000 bullets, and the legendary mirelurk queen took like zero damage, such bullet sponges i almost uninstalled again. But rest of the game is fine, campaign story was ok, there's stuff to grind.. Nothing fancy but not worth the hate this game has gotten. So yea it's underrated, but not too much and i totally get it if someone loves it.
The game has it flaws but also some good things, im sure this game would have gotten less dislikes if they actually added in npcs etc right in beginning and not a few years after, the only thing i feel is dumb is that you need to pay per month to play a private section, but it is what it is
They didn't have the basic decency to add simple text chat in a multiplayer roleplaying game. It could've had a thriving RP community, but no.
