New Player Question: What items would you not Scrap if any, and why?
I guess I just want to know if there are certain items that are better stored for later rather than scraping them straight away.

No. You will find almost everything over and over.

Scrap everything you aren't using. Store 100 of each type of scrap and sell/drop the rest.

Drop all Mini nukes, missiles, cannon balls, and any ammo you don't have weapons for.

Very handy. Gives me an insight to inventory management. Basically, Horde virtually nothing and scrap virtually everything. Keep refined resources to 100 approx and consider selling/dumping/giving away excess resources. Once again. Thanks.

There are certain pieces of junk that while they can be broken down further, are also used themselves in crafting. Those you may want to keep In that intermediate state.

Some junk is more rare and worth keeping - Screws, Springs, Aluminum, Adhesive, and Ballistic Fiber are commonly used for crafting-repair and fairly rare, so keep those.

Other stuff is so common you can ignore until you need it - steel, wood, cloth. Just leave it in the world, which has infinite storage space.

Scrap every weapon you find on enemies to learn plans.

That's what I was thinking. I guess I'll know when I come across the items and blueprints.

Thanks. I'll do that.

Like above, try to store stuff in around 200 of everything, if you have scrapbox then take everything and just store it in that. Stuff like steel or wood is easier to find, so maybe not take too much of that since you get it very easy if its needed. Steel also weigh alot in the stashbox.

Some stuff are harder to find. But also if you are looking for specific scrap item for some crafting, you can highlight the scrap in your pipboy and there will be a magnification glass icon next to the item if it have anything you are looking for. For example if you are looking for screws, you will see that magnification glass icon next to a toy car or desk fan when you are about to loot it.

So maybe just highlight the rare scrap items, because you already getting the common ones when you are scraping those.

If you go to a bench and select the scrap function and then Scrap All, amd items still show on the screen to scrap, that is an intermediate junk item.

For example, scrap a shotgun and you get some wood and steel. Scrap a ski sword, and you get steel, and a ski which can also be scrapped.

There are a few tricks when you need to make certain items in huge amounts like ammo, if you are 1st no problem, you have your scrap box, but if not, a good way to optimize are: first get your hands in a full excavator PA, and other farm and store minerals (with excavator PA 4x minerals/node), minerals weight less than scrap, just be sure you have a good supply of acid to smelt them.

Another trick, always keep acid and a few of all, if you need something in particular there are a lot of guides scattered around: forums, youtube etc, or ask here, for example: if you have 2 camps, then make 1 of them an adhesive farm (plant multifruit, corn and tatoo, have an endlessly supply of clean water and make vegetable starch with superduper perk card equipped, scrap it = adhesive, improve it buying the turbo-fert fertilizer with gold bullion for the grenade, equip explosives at max perk card and regrowth all plants with the grenade, repeat until you have all the adhesive you want) need aluminum? scrap sky poles, screws? go make colossal problem, plenty of wendigos spawn, around 400 screws/run, springs? kill bears, no bears in the server? then server hop, acid? bears too, snallygasters and ticks etc...

The developers want us to all be like this:

I bought a month of 1st (a few days left) and I can tell you the games is much easier to manage inventory. But it can be done without 1st.

Unless you have falllout 1st, then store it in the ammo box that doesn't have a weight limit

Also keep an eye on Grenades of all types.

Other things that can sneak in and take up inventory space are chems. Certain events will gift you with tons of them.

Never. Scrap. Mr. Fuzzy plushies. Display them instead! Show your allegiance to the Fuzzy mascot!

if you want to make stable flux you will need hardened mass which will break down into ultracite if you scrap it.

Brilliant! You just blinded me with science. A lot to think about here. I have found a junk deposit. Thought it may be handy in the first stage of the game. Acid seems very important. Yes I YT a lot for info as well as Fallout 76 guides in the ether.
