Playing game without cost
Is there a way to play this game without costing $$? I believe in some MMO type games you can sell in game stuff for game time (Eve Online does this, or at least used to)?

I'd like to play F76, but I don't want to pay a monthly subscription for something I may play here or there. Not all the time.

there's no monthly fee to play. Just an upfront cost.

Subscription is optional. Buy game, play for as long as you like with no additional investment required.

Ah, my mistake. How much does not paying the monthly fee set you back? Is it Pay to Win or can non paying players get by in the game? How much PVP is there, if I want to peacefully explore can I do that or am I going to be constantly harassed by people hunting me or annoying kids mouthing off the entire time?

In game there are a slew of challenges to earn you ATOMS, the currency used in the ATOM store. You can also buy ATOMs with real money, and they are not used in-game; just for purchasing cosmetics and CAMP items that sometimes offer small advantages.

If you really enjoy the game you should be able to get the majority of Atom shop items you want just by playing a lot. (** Unless you want everything . In which case, spend the extra $$; that's what it's there for, there is no real "winning" to 76.) That might change come end of march though, not sure how the new system will work......

You can play this game like a solo expansion to F4 but it has a 5 minute story, is light on dialogue, and far fewer pop-culture references. Also anything you clear re-spawns within hours weakening the feeling of accomplishment and you'll be at a disadvantage without group buffs. I roleplayed till about lvl 35 and by then avoiding all strangers was getting stale. It was far more advantageous to start treating the game like an everquest MMO where everyone's there to group up and raid stuff. Then things became much more fun to the point I'd recommend it.

Personally I recommend Fallout 1st. I like what it does and it's affordable for me (bought the full year). But I played the first 200 hours without it no problem. Everyone seems to have a different take on it, but for me 1st is essentially a quality of life addition and worth the money.

Buying a cheap second copy lets you transfer items between characters without issue..mostly. You can dump loads of gear on a mule and when that great Bloodied or other weapon drops for your full health build you can move it to a Bloody build. Just add second account as friend, does require another pc though...

I bought it on a Steam sale and haven't given them a single cent since. If you don't waste Atoms on garbage the game gives you plenty for the few pay to not be annoyed items in the store (there is fortunatly no "pay to win").

As all the other posts say.

However, end of march there will be a new scoreboard system that lets you buy a season pass with atoms that's contains most of fallout 1st's perks (if not all?) and you can earn those atoms on the same scoreboard.

So with that you can actually do what you prefer, which is earn a sort of premium by playing the hamster wheel. Earning score for the board consists of simple tasks like kill 3 of this, collect 10 of that, its really chill.

It's not really an MMO. It's an open world game where you can pretty much do what you want to do. If you have played other Fallout games, it's exactly like them, the only difference is this is online rather than singleplayer like the rest. It's not pay to win. You do missions to get equipment and guns, majority is just cosmetic. The in game currency is bottlecaps and you pretty much get them from looting, doing missions, killing enemies and selling items you don't need. There is a paid currency which is atoms, but that pretty much is used for the battlepass (you can earn atoms without spending any money).

Fallout 1st is mostly quality of life stuff. You can easily play without it.
Just prepare to perpetually manage your stash limit, at a certain point.

I play the game without mic support, I don't want to hear mouth breathers or other inane cr*p. It's a setting within the game, up to you.

There's little PVP left in the game. What's left can (mostly) be avoided.
Be sure to have passive mode on in the settings of the game. It prevents most of the accidental PVP while exploring.

Workshops (locations to take over in the game) are PVP environments, passive mode doesn't work anymore here. Be aware of that. I rarely encounter actual PVP'ers with taking over workshops, but when I do, I just leave.

There are some PVP events that you can easily ignore. Just read descriptions to know what kind of event it is.

There are some players that want to PVP with rando's. I.e.; They'll shoot/hit at you repeatedly, like body/headshots, just don't shoot/hit back and PVP won't happen when you have passive mode active. (If they just shoot at the ground near you, they are likely to have a gift for you.)

Most of the time, you can choose to ignore other players. If other players get too annoying towards you, you can block them (block for that session or permanently, up to you). And change servers if it gets really bad (very rare), after you've blocked them.

A 3 star Mole Rat gave me my first 3 star weapon, a 50 cal. Hunters. Where he was carrying it I can only guess.

Its up to you if you spend cash. :cozyfallout4: I lasted 9 months before the "Fallout 1st Sales People"/ Junk Hunters, got my secondary character at a Workshop.
Crafting and Scraping Weapons, worked well for 6 months, trying to get a set of armor, that was harder before crafting was introduced. But, I held on to too much, and still have to scrap weapons and armor. I had too much flux at about 20x Each, and the weight in my stash was starting to become a burden, forcing out other scrap.

If you know what weapons you like, and don't stray from them, you should not have too much trouble. You can avoid paying if your very disciplined. But coming from Fallout 4, and having Diamond City to put stuff in, to just a stash box, and more and more weapons coming out, it is a strain. I have a bunch of acceptable weapons, getting the roll you want is a pain.

Get the ""Free"" "Quest" Under Ground Shelter from Vault 51, and put your radiation Arch into it. You now have 2 Free Camp slot to put in two C.A.M.P.S. on the map. So if one is blocked you can use the other.

Before Seasons, If you wanted a Weapon, or Power Armor Paint, you had to buy, or claim the limited free items. Or some limited time events. Or get stuff from Nuclear Winter, If you did not quit playing for the day after your 3 Flying-Aim-Botting Hacker.

Losing a Gauss Rifle, you paid Caps :cozyfallout4: for because it did not have a paint is not fun.

Now you just have to do the daily quests, and level up, or soon; level and ticket up. Also, now you can get outfits and camp objects from the season score board, and from the Gold Bullion vendors, and the Stamp Vendor from the Expositions.

Its different from what is was from 5 years ago, and 4 from when I finally got the Bethesda Launcher to let me download the game. To 3 & 1/2 years ago, when When Wastelanders came out, and I gave up on Bethesda Launcher after 3 day of crashes, and Activated the STEAM copy.

Play it until you have to pay, Its up to you. :cozybethesda:
