CPU Spikes, Freeze and Stutter

I have completely random terrible microfrezze and stutter every few seconds. Sometimes the game hangs for several seconds, it's practically unplayable.

I have an i3-10105, a GTX 1080Ti and 16 GB Ram and even on the absolute lowest settings, I can't get rid of the problem. I have also moved the game from the SSD to my normal hard disk, tried various tweeks from the internet but nothing helps.
I looked in the task manager and the game normally has a CPU load of about 50% but every few seconds suddenly Spice with 100% load. This also causes the freezing and stuttering. I just don't understand how these spikes come about, I don't have this problem with any other game either.
Drivers are up to date, CPU priority set to highest and virtual cores turned off, absolutely nothing helps. I even have the feeling that it's getting worse day by day.
I closed all background programs, ran a virus scan, but found nothing.

Does anyone have any tips for me on what I could try? The game has become virtually unplayable for me and it would be a shame if I had to put it aside because of these technical problems. I've also read that I'm probably not the only one with this problem. it drives me crazy :(

only thing he does here is turning off vertical sync off
also need to limit fps max to 120 from for example nvidia control panel

Core affinity. I don't keep up with CPU technology much any more with E cores, P cores, physical and hyper treaded etc.

But this game is very picky about which cores it run on.

You'll have to look up more details but having the game run on primary physical cores can solve some of the issues.

i have read about this. my cpu has 4 physical and 4 virtual cores. the problem is, when i switch off the 4 virtual cores i have a terrible performance and the game just wobbles around.

No, the i3-10105 is a newer generation CPU. According to gpucheck, the i3 and the GTX 1080 Ti are a perfect match and the CPU is not a bottleneck.

And according to gpuicheck, I should have 153 FPS in Fallout 76 with the CPU/GPU combo in 1080P on Ultra settings.

so the cpu is not the problem.

this totally is not the issue, im running 9600k with 3070 with no problem in any game

try this: open properties of fallout76.exe -> compability tab and put "run as admin + disable fullscreen optimization" - this also might help

I have been just using a Ryzen 5 8500G without a dedicated graphics card lately and it's been doing pretty good. It might just be a connection issue.

This was happening to me recently and it ended up being a OneDrive issue. Somehow it decided to start backing up and syncing my steam files and it caused duplicate files and would make my computer go ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. None of the things in google results mentioned OneDrive, but I had a hunch when I was manually browsing folders and spotted errors. I stopped the sync, removed the duplicates and restarted my computer...haven't had issues with 76 since...but 4.... that one has been crashing more often after the Halloween update.

what other things do you see in the task manager.

i have similar setup and works great, used to have an i3, it worked fine. While ago put an i7 in 3500k nice and cost less than $30 usd. But it didn't make big differnece.

You are going to want to check task manager to find your problem could be your cpu, memory, or almost anything,

all i know is i ran it on a system like yours and ran fine
