Which Fallout is based on the tv series?

It's not based on any specific game. It's just another story within the set universe.

None are based on the show as the games all came before the show, and the show isn't really based off a specific Fallout game. It is its own thing based on Fallout overall.

The closest you're going to get would be Fallout 3 in just raw comparisons. Specially if you make a female character, then you literally leave the vault looking for your dad. Sound familiar? It has you spend some time in teh vault as well, so there is a tad more connection and feeling of holy crap i'm leaving the vault, versus 4 it's like here's the vault, ok here the exit type of deal.

All Fallout titles are based on themselves. The only continuity in MCs is via some of the NPC and NPC companions who span multiple titles. Even the factions are slightly different from region to region - in the most recent interview I saw with Mr. Howard and Mr. Nolan both, it was mentioned specifically how "communication is spotty" being a big influence in variation and how they're very careful to deal with each titles as a specific time- and area-piece (so as not to trample on the possibilities for future lore development)

It's set closest to New Vegas and the remains of the NCR in the area but no mention of the legion as yet; the setting is Hollywood-esque, not NV. In that interview they mention how so many of their staff and friends are fans of the series - they were given SO MUCH to base the show on they couldn't fit it all. So in a word the show is based on all of the major FO titles; not the other way around.

The creators of fallout were psychic and precognitive. Tim Cain knew this series was slated to Be; it was Fate, after all. Destiny. But when he gazed into his crystal ball and viewed the sad future that was 2024 everything kinda just sucked.

So Mr. Cain, in all his wisdom and wizardly know-how decided to prop up this poor TV series by creating a diverse and vast amount of material from which it's creators could draw better inspiration.

Would have to say none of the current Fallout games are "based" on the series, mainly because all of the current titles were out before the series started.
