Does flamer long barrel work?

I can't find any info on this that isn't years old. I know the vapor nozzle gimps the range, but does the long barrel actually do anything? I'm using standard nozzle with long barrel and when swapping back to short barrel, it doesn't feel like there's a range difference. If it is bugged, is the Holy Fire also bugged?

I believe the wiki-page of Holy Fire claims that the long barrel doesn't work on it, because the whole blue flame thing "replaces" the barrel mod technically... or something like that. But regular Flamer, which isn't Holy Fire? It works on that one.
