Edit: See Google Docs link in his video description.
The thing is, I'm not sure there is another weapon in the game that can be configured as either a flamer, semi-auto rifle, semi-auto sniper rifle, auto rifle, as well as pistol versions of all of those as well. BTW, if anyone is curious and wanted to read further about this, there is a good Reddit EPG guide thread here, which does a pretty good job of explaining the details.
So a few months ago I started farming for both, and was eventually able to put together some awesome weapons. As to what would I consider the "best" mod options for display. Here's my .02;
The flamer weapon is definitely the most talked about version. It's a quick killer of almost every regular enemy in the game. It's also the weapon that players have used to take down bosses like Earle in less than a minute. So for me this is the ideal flamer hardware config;
Reflex Sight
Aligned Flamer Barrel
Calibrated Capacitor for highest possible Crit DMG
or Severe Beta Wave Tuner for good Crit DMG (and for FF ability)
Forceful Stock
Even though Bethesda nerfed the flamer barrels to give them all the same AP cost, (30), which means there is no performance advantage for the Aligned Flamer barrel over any other flamer barrel, it's still perceived that Aligned is best. (And Bethesda could always remove the nerf)
For an auto rifle my perfect configuration would be exactly the same, with the exception of installing the Aligned Auto Barrel, which does enjoy advantages over the other auto barrels.
Lastly on stocks, for me, the Forceful is the best performing stock for any version of the Enclave Plasma Rifle. It will literally add double durability to the weapon, which absolutely needs it. Also why a breaks less third legendary star is also highly desirable.
HOWEVER, you stated this is for display. I do admit that the second best stock for this weapon, Precise, looks more impressive than the Forceful. However, the True stock looks amazing as well, (even if it's not the best performing stock).
Anyway, sorry for the ramble. It's a subject I love. Once you get your display up, I'd love to come by and take a look. And if you would like some free True stocks for your guns for display, please hit me up. I've got 3 (i think), and since I don't really display my weapons, I just know I'm never going to use them. If you can, you're welcome to them.
Good Luck..
Thank you for that link , Looks like the setup has changed on this weapon
Not sure if this thing can take out Earl in a mater of seconds anymore
