How do people trade rare items?

I had a responder fireman helmet drop for me, the white one, and after a quick google it seems it;s rare. I have a few questions regarding it if i may:

1. Where do people go to trade, do we just make a post about it here on this forum?

2. Would i be able to request a god-roll weapon for it? Or is it worth less than that?

If so, i'm looking for an anti-armour gatling plasma, with faster fire or explosive as a secondary, and any of thse for a third legendary: - 90% weight, faster reload, breaks 50% slower, movement speed, or perception

3. Since direct trade doesn't seem to work at all ingame, how do people trust each other to drop an item that won't just be stolen, instead of traded for?

I'd say white responder fireman helmet is worth more than gatling plasma you are looking for. Your best bet at trading is reddit, https://www.reddit.com/r/Market76/ they even have couriers to ensure trade goes well.

By the way, explosive laser or plasma guns are no longer a thing in Fallout 76, Bethesda removed such weapons and disabled ability to roll legendary explosive effect to those weapons. Ballistic weapons such as shotguns, rifles, pistols etc can still have explosive effect rolled.
