What items collect/scrap?

Im new player.
Usually i collect all crap(first thing i do SP games if possible increase carry limit) but not option in this game.
Looks like no point to collect random junk, is there any rare items i should collect(for quests or crafting)?

Well, no junk worth collecting, just scrap it for materials, maybe nuclear keykards from airdrop for later use.

If it can be scrapped then scrap! Unless it's a weapon/armor upgrade obviously, but those won't last forever! There are some exceptions like some animal parts. Tick blood sack, bloodbug proboscis, bloatfly gland and stingwing barbs come to mind for a particular repeatable daily quest. And random junk is good to collect because it can be scrapped into useful materials for building and modding/crafting weapons/armor.

Also you can increase carry weight by increasing strength, getting higher level backpack, unlocking improved backpack, applying deep pocketed mod to your armor pieces and several other ways.

You cannot increase stash size beyond 1200 but you certainly can increase carry limit. There is a perk to add +40. Also more strength increases carry weight. Backpacks increase carry weight and also armour mods can offer up to +10 per armour piece. On top of this there are legendary effects and perks to offer weight reductions up to 90% reduced weight for certain items specifically.

In my opinion, the only material that is often needed but rarely found is ballistic fiber.
The primary source are military duct tape and military ammo bags, most often found at military/BOS outposts in the Cranberry Bog.

Also lead, steel and gunpowder for new players. You'll burn through ammo quickly unless u farm expeditions for ammo.

Some pointers for new. Push ( c ) favorite button to mark your armor under armor and weapons so you dont scrap them on accident. Also bullets is what wins in this game. Find lucky hole mine set up a base near it. Get the perk cards that make you rich. Here are some that helps out for making money. Get the perk cards that give you more meat and the one that lets you find more bullets and the medical one to find more radaway and stims .Also xp is through intelligence so crank it up.
