[Spoiler] Quest "Oldest Trick in the Book" glitch. Help!

Found the password in Alex's room, but the action was not logged, so I'm blocked. I have a password in my inventory but can't read it.

Seems the Password Sheet you find on the bed is bugged, at least for me. I joined a new server and the quest marker to look for the password followed me on my head as if the sheet was the solution but it never confirms you pick it up.

i had this as well. after lots of fumbling about and jumping servers, i finally resolved it by deactivating and reactivating the quest in my pip-boy. when i reactivated it, the quest update to “return to pepper” or whatever.

I had this problem as well. I solved it by killing everyone. Quest complete.

It bugged for me after that point. It said I had to clear the mine, which I did, but several corpses kept their floating diamonds, and it would never register as cleared. Had to log out and reboot. Then, when I went back into the mine, everyone was hostile and I had to kill them again.

From a little bit of looking online, this quest is apparently a bug-fest.

Yeah, this was my plan B but It didn't work. After killing a sectarian who demanded a password, he was still marked as an alive NPC that I need to kill, with an appropriate marker above him.
In my case the solution was to change the server. UPD: Not just simply change the server, but completely close the game and run it again .
