Is becoming a ghoul worth it?
Im thinking about becoming a ghoul, but is it worth it in anyway? Ive completed the vault 79 questline, and im almost done with the enclave questline (havent launched the nuke yet). Do the pros outwheigh the cons?

hm. wait for it, the bugs will have to be rooted out first anyway.
gives you enough time to find good builds and compare em to what you have.

if you like running full health, its almost 100% a buff, just be aware of the mechanics you need to manage. if you want to run bloodied/unyielding/low health, its near impossible because of ghouls natural radiation absorb.
Doing a number of the main questlines is somewhat problematic. You have to wear a disguise, and the only place to put on the disguise is at the NPC in the new ghoul location. It is also the only location to take off the disguise.

Mechanically, you will gain more if you are a melee character. (Ranged character do have new ghoul perks to benefit from as well.) Maintaining you feral meter at maximum gives +3 Strength, or a 150% bonus on melee damage if you let it drain completely. Being immune to radiation is nice, but not really necessary. Other than certain event or in a nuke zone, radiation isn't all that bad.

You still benefit from most perks and most mutations, and you do get access to some new perks as a ghoul. Overall, I would say it is most definitely worth it for a melee character. It isn't bad for a ranged character either.

This is my issue with Ghoul. makes them an OP Class.

Finish all the main story quests first, all the wastelanders and Steel Dawn and Reign content, get all the free plans as a normal. Then turn into a ghoul.

You get to only do it once FREE per character and any subsequent ghoulification cost 1000 atoms. Its best to do it AFTER youve gotten those plans first e.g. X01, Hellcat, Ultracite, Chinese Stealth Suit

you can wear a disguise for basically free (the debuffs are very small) and still do all normal content

Just make doubly sure that you have the disguise on when approaching the Brotherhood. They will start shooting, unlike the other groups who just won't work with you.

Fast traveled to the Brotherhood camp near Vault 76 (for some screws and hopefully Sugar Bombs for the daily) and everyone started shooting. Wouldn't be so bad, except the NPCs seem to be invulnerable.

I've played on the PTS and I don't have enough experience on that to say much.
I prefer ranged and the one char I made for a Ghoul I don't know how the changes and all are going to work for ranged.

It's just a different way to play.

Personally I prefer the bog standard 'human' (we're mostly mutants anyway). They can use the endurance perks that are locked to ghouls and there is no real 'requirement' to using specific legendary perks (ghoul legendary perks feel almost mandatory).

The new onslaught gives enough damage and using legendary effects like overeaters and unyielding are still good.

That is why it is useful to have at least one dedicated ghoul character as it'll play slightly differently, and change is as good as a holiday.

yhea, i mean i already finished most storylines except brotherhood of steal, and i dont mind the disguise stuff, it has actually saved my bacon a couple of time already lol
I'm getting everything out of the way that requires a disguise before becoming a ghoul
