Maybe the wiki has a list of where you can find them in the wild. It often does.
Or, get rep up with foundation and grab the gauntlet, which is probably the best unarmed weapon, since you get 75% armour pen with a perk, the powerfist's bonus is next to non-existent.
Yea, I know, I never got one either, that's one of the few events that I can't solo(don't think it's even possible to solo), meaning it rarely gets done, defending those things with melee isn't the easiest thing to do, lol, I would love to have it though, even if I've never even seen one, lol.
Op... Get it through Project Paradise. It's all luck though; you could get the plan the first time you complete the event. As uni mentioned gauntlet is the best *melee* weapon outside of auto-weapons. Mod it with electric damage. I still prefer any of the claws to it for feel of play, however. The claws are just more fun. If you're gonna punch something you want a good pair of spiked knuckles to feel right after you lay a horde out.
Yeah Uni you can solo it but getting all three creatures to survive is a matter of pure luck I have not managed. You can manage to herd two in to the same area easy enough... Friendly Fire is your best friend for that quest, also doing the additional part to heal the monsters might help but FF makes it kinda moot. Sadly any less than 3 animals surviving drastically cuts if not completely negates the possibility of earning the plan. I do not recommend attempting it...
If so, nuka mines are your friend.
The trick to solo Project Paradise is to fail one first. On that failed run collect Moist Radkelp, you'll keep it after event fails.
Next run you instantly get a Mirelurk King and move to one of the other zones. You can get both to level 3 if you're quick but there is another trick.
Focus on the Venison (I think... could be sludge) but leave both other zones at level 0. They will spawn flying insects which are remarkably resilient as they fly away from combat, even the Anglers fire spit isn't too damaging.
I've done solo 2 animals with the occasional 3 just by leaving them as insects. Only the ground insects will die quick so better to buff them to something else.
But then, I have no idea about most things with that event. It's just confusion. I have no idea where to go, or how to get to other rooms, or what the stuff you need to collect looks like or anything. And it also used to be the last boss would die so fast there was no chance of tagging it (even if I'd known how to navigate the place), so I also always lost out on a legendary. Slightly better chance of getting that loot now, though it generally still dies out of range and/or I can't find it after...
Judging from how often the event doesn't get done, I may not be alone in having issues.
As soon as you give up on it, one will appear.
Just make sure to do a few events so one can drop.
If you wanna solo it Mooman's advice is, as is frequently the case, probably the best advice.
