Cant buy Fusion cells or other high quality ammunition at some vendors?
So im lvl 81 and play if for the story bits and only occasionaly head into multiplayer battles if im on the map and see there are cool ops i didnt play before or often.

Now at the beginning of playing the story i always found new and different weapons which led to me preserving quite some amount of ammo. I always thought there will be vendors that sell all types of ammo, so i was not worried and didnt pay too much attention on preserving specific types of ammo when shooting enemies that dont drop fusion cores as example (non robots as example). Now since the last eight levels i started to be on the lookout for better ammo vendors than those at the train stations. They are useless on variety and ammount.

As you can guess im completly emptied out on all ammo, so started to use melee weapons but im not that interested in playing melee apart from preserving ammo. I guess from now on i will use melee more often :D

Google search tells me there are no ammunition vendors?! The only way on gathering ammo is by picking it up or crafting it.

I like to play every mission once, but im not a fan from repeating missions for xp or resources, i normaly stay away from those. Since it seems this to my taste incredible stupid game mechanic forces me to use these methods, i want to confirm if this is true or if i missed something while searching in google.

Are there no high quality ammo vendors that sell ammo in bulk? Like at least 2000 so i am able to play a whole mission or two, three depending on the enemie type and count.
Also which vendors sell the plans to craft following ammo types? -> Fusion cells; Ultra cide fusion core; 5.56; .308; .50

I have 17000 gold in case someone wants to trade?
My goal is to finish every story mission so i dont really need much gold. So far i had no use for it.

How much would 5000 fusion cells and ultra cide fusion cells cost? Just so i better understand the economics in this game.

Thanks for your input. Cheers!

You could in theory buy from players but no one really sells ammo its generally considered too common.

You can get the ammo converter https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Ammo_Converter but its a designed intentionally to be about as fun to use as a rusty razor, and it doesnt provide or accept all types of ammo (no fusion cores, no ultracite ammo types). Most people run expeditions and then before they take the vertiberd back they swap to whatever weapon they want ammo for, when your able to do raids you get a ton (emphasis on ton) of ammo.

Outside of that using a slow firing hard hitting weapon that has your prefered ammo type and having the ammo scrounger (or whatever) perk in luck helps you find more on bodies.

There are several things you can do.

1st. There are Fusion Reactors scattered around at some places that soemtimes have a Fusion Core in them that you can pick up. Though its usually partly depleted. There are Power Armor Frames at spots that always carry a few armorpieces and a partly depleted fusion core.

2nd. Using a different Weapon. The Gatling Gun is one that uses 5mm ammo and in such low quantities that you get more ammo back then you use.

3rd. Crafting ...Ammoboxes that you look into have the unrefined black powder are the main ingredient for most ammo ...though not fusion cells ...but the reciepe for fusion cells is really easy ...8 Lead+4 Copper+4Plastic ...use the Ammo Crafter perkcard in Agility and the Super Duper perkcard in Luck and youre good to go to gain double the ammo you should when crafting without them but for the same ressources.

Ultracite Ammo is a different thing. It requires you to harvest the nuked flora after a bomb drop ...its what makes that specificly tedious to farm so id not recommend using them as all day weapon.

If you go about trading ...ive not seen a lot of people sell ammo since its not wort a lot because people craft their own or drop the ammo they dont need into an ammo change machine ...exchanging the ammo they dont need for points with which they then can buy the ammo they want from that machine. Its not very efficient but its better than to throw the found ammo away ...and no usually i dont store a lot of ammo i dont need because my stash is limited and almost always full.
If you want we can run a few Daily Ops or Expeditions (Boardwalk) together, if you pull out the gun you need the ammo before last target in Daily Ops and before taking the helo back from expedition you get always ammo for it. For Gattling Laser/Plasma its always 4 cores you get

I can also give/craft you a bunch of the cores if you need, in the atom shop there is also a fusion core regenerator which is quite handy.

Yeah that would be nice, but just as a warning im not that good a fallout 76 player. My armor is complete random since i dont like crafting very much. I try to help as good as im able. Deathclaws are usually the end of me, if i dont kite them or kill em from above :D

But yeah, would be nice to play some missions. So far i didnt play any daily op or expedition, only solo story plus a bunch of random events, So that will be great to check them out with some help.

Yeah the gatlin gun i recognised as a nice non-laser weapon with some punch. Have no clue why the ammo run out though. Always had lots of ammo for it over many levels. Maybe i was to long in an area where the same ammo didnt drop. I dont know, maybe i made a different mistake on why the ammo ran out. But yeah the Gatling Gun is amazing.

Gonna keep the black powder from now on.

Yeah i figured, that ultracide is so rare, i only use it for strong enemies.

Thanks also for your tips!

Commissioning your own personal crafter is the way to go. The only future the game has left for vets is in being Sherpas and Crafters for noobs.

I guess they got a ton of ammo now. Finished Dops, Expo and while just wanting to farm the bot in the raid we ended up with a full group and a full run.

Was fun to see how this missions work. True, got some nice amount of ammo! Minigun is empty again, damn it goes so fast. One single player mission and close to no enemies droped amo to replenish the use.
But thats fine for now, i still have a GREAT ammount of laser amo :D can do some missions with the laser and than try to repeat something like tonight. Awesome!

I'm always selling huge amount of ammunition of any types including ultracite, my ingame name is AlexanderLevine

If my vendor doesn't have the type of ammo you need, then most likely I haven't updated the stock yet. But if I see you for example doing the money emote next to my vendor and show me the weapon you have currently equipped, I'll understand what you need and put the ammo on sale for you.
