Much has changed and much more will change in March (Ghouls will be playable).
How worth it is and how much time you'll spend is up to you, and you won't know that till you experience it yourself.
There are balancing issues too. Events are too easy. I'm standing there doing nothing while mobs die microseconds after spawning. I'd rather fail 1/5 or 1/10 of events but have fun due to challenge rather than win them all the time standing there doing nothing while everything gets one-shotted.
The base building aspect is also pretty nice and better developed than various housing systems in many other online games. So there is something for creative types too.
One of the things I love most about this game is the lack of a chat box.
I've played since launch minus about 2 years until last June when I came back.
A lot has changed. So much that a new char can hit 50 much faster.
Those games are not like 76.
There is no level crafting. Plans can be found or awarded by enemies or quests.
Most mods for gear can be bought, sold, or learned by scrapping the item the can be put on.
PVP is all but dead here so if that's what you're looking for you're not going to find it.
The grind here is eventually the XP/level will take much longer. Almost everything requires materials to build or with gear to repair.
There's only one Raid right now and requires much higher level, higher gear, stats, effects, etc. to finish.
Expeditions used to be a hot thing but I haven't been able to get on one since I came back.
i only struggle with finding optimal settings for Steam Deck
That being said the game isn't pay-to-win, and the community is pretty chill. There are plenty of activities and questlines to keep things fun. If you already own the game, give it a shot.
Play to have fun.
Play till you get your monies worth.
Play some more.
i dislike constant whiners for pvp, people that gripe on the game in discussions or patch notes instead of just moving on, if you read it it's usually the same people over an over, sure the game is far from perfect, sure bugthesda have many bugs that need fixing, sure they nerf stuff that doesn't need nerfing yet leave op build be but you'll have a good time if you put the effort in :)
community is extremely nice for the most part sure you have bad eggs but what game doesn't?
TL;DR - Loads of fun to be had, Bugs found, Whiners whine, Unwanted nerfs, Awesome community.
It is a very relaxing and chill game -- fun to acquire gear and get all the stats you want.
This is NOT a sweaty game.
