Wendigo Collussus
Met this guy today. The Wendigo Colossus. Maybe because I’m in the Quantum World. My character is over level 150. Still low level for the culture but 3 x the max level. All my guns and armour are decent - mostly 3 stars or better with decent perks etc. Emptied over 2000 rounds into it. Dealing probably 150 critical headshots of 600 or over. Guns broke and no ammo so I went back to the camp and grabbed everything I had. Of course it was healed when I got back - but I had hardly scratched it anyways. Hit it with 13 mini nukes, 11 guided missiles, 8 plasma cores from plasma gatling gun (whats that like 4800 shots?), 300 energy cells from the tesla cannon, 300 railway spikes, 1900 .50 from a 3 star LMG, 300 .556 explosive… You can try strategic approaches, but like everything in this game you end up in power armour spamming rounds into bullet sponges. Fallout 76 gameplay is basically “point dot, hold left mouse button down”. Never even got the thing past a third less health. Whhhhyyyyy!?! How would this ever be fun for anyone? Why anyone, including me, bothers with this nonsense game is officially beyond me. Maybe I don’t care about those glass walls after all…

There are two versions of the Wendigo Colossus.

First is Earle (boss in A Colossal Problem). He can be very difficult to defeat. Solo can be much tougher unless you are very specifically kitted out. He’s a boss. He is also a bullet sponge. At least you get event rewards if you are able to defeat him.

Second are the ones you might find out in the wild. They have a chance of random spawning in a nuke zone at a location that has random mob spawns. Easiest place to find them is in the Sundew Grove nuke zone after a queen fight. They are almost as tough as Earle, just as big bullet sponges, and the rewards for killing them aren’t worth the fight.

If you are not in a group of players when you find one out in the wild, or have no way of getting lots of assistance. Don’t bother. You’ll just end up with no ammo, no chems, and lots of broken weapons and armor.

A month ago or maybe a little longer I came across Earle's brother two days in a row because I was doing the rounds, looking for loose Gatling Plasma mods in the Cranberry Bog. I was in a Hazmat suit because it was after a nuke was dropped , the Scorchbeasts reign had ended and everyone had left.
He didn't stand a chance against the auto-axe and at that time it didn't have pounders fourth star.
I took a piccie the second time when i came across him brawling with a Mirelurk Queen near the edge of the nuke zone where I was able to lure him out and change into armour.
It was fun.
edit:
The very first time I came across him I was also in a Hazmat suit but level 50 so ran away as I'd only just started playing the game.

Invest into the auto axe
I watched Little Earl Battle 3 Scorched Beasts once for 20 minutes down there. He fell in the Queens Fissue sight about a dozen times and crawled out. Killed the 2 Regular ones pretty quick. Finally killed the 3 star one after about 20 minutes of chasing each other. I got some shots on the Scorched while he was fighting and after he went back to the Forest I picked up the loot. I have killed Him 2 times but with help and 50,000 rounds of my Vamp Exp 50 cals. Both time got a bone club. There was no Auto Axe back then. Hero's had to be Hero's (or spammers).

There was a time players could use an exploit to spawn Little Earle from their camp.

I was unfortunate to encounter one such exploiter near Watoga station. They had summoned 3...

I het that there can be OP enemies designed for groups, but I was in a solo server. I don’t think this one is killable at all for a solo player. So - why not just put something else in there? Sorta exemplifies the slop in the games which is sad. Give us a little less and it a little better?

I’ve killed Eric a fee times. With a group. Seems the auto axe is the way to go. But it’s still kinda just holding the left mouse button. What if there were multiple possibilities? Like - if you had maxed sniping you could hit his groin just right, or science you could drug him, or anything at all that changes with the changing creatures. They look different but they all take the same anti-strategy to beat. It’s bot Fallout - it’s just another pay play online gaming boss in just another pay to play online gaming platform.

Haven’t found yet but will keep looking for as long as I can handle the game. But this is a pretty gross and exploitative strategy. You need a thing to do a thing and to get the thing you need to play for another 100 hours of mindless grinding. The health impacts are probably dire for us all.

50,000 rounds! I mean - to fire that many would have taken like 3 hours surely? Or more?

Just because you are in a private world the game doesn’t scale difficulty.

To solo a colossus you REALLY need the syringers with the endangerol barrel modification to reduce its resistance by 25% this is huge changer as this will allow you to do more damage overall.. however it only lasts 1 min so you will have change back and forth with it.

Shooting the sacks on the heads will reduce its roar range and the heads take 200% more damage which stacks up too 1k per tick if you apply the syringers debuff with a quad+rapid Rail Road Rifle you can literally melt it within a few mins.

you need items that boost your crit rate and damage... damage to ghouls can work too considering thats what earl is so magazines that do that will help too wouldn't bother with it on a weapon mod because the overall damage will be no better with replacing quad ammo. So for example you need a drug that boosts damage ,magazine that boosts damage and a bobble head that boosts damage followed by using the syringers. There are food and drinks that boost stat values for this you want luck or perception.
If you have the right items and things you can boost your damage up too 1k per shot.

This can be done with any boss creature.

Try complaining about Boss difficulty at Dark Soul's forums. This one was designed for at least 4 geared up players, IN ONLINE CO-OP GAME, you still far from opening all legendary perks and having a solid build, yet you already complaining about not being able to solo it
