Game is too dark
How can I make it less dark? I can barely see anything at night. Additionally, I would like to map WASD to the arrow keys. When I try to do this, nothing happens.

Typical complaint is that the nights are way too bright. A while back Bethesda changed it as before nights actually had some darkness to them.

If you are not happy with the darkness of the nights increase brightness in your GPU software such as Nvidia control panel. Or through your monitor settings.

Many keys are not able to be changed from their default binds unfortunately. Been like that forever.
Hello kitty is that way.
It's too dark and too bright.

Either colors seem washed out because its too bright or its too dark like shadows cast by foliage and trees.

Use the flashlight.

Apparently Starfield has a similar problem and I was just reading a potential check/solution for that game.

Have a look at your HDR settings, windows, GPU software and maybe in game (can't remember if game has HDR settings). Turn them off.

If it works, great we have something to tell others. If it doesn't (I suspect this is an issue for BGS to solve) we are right where we are anyway...

It's not too dark. Quite the opposite.

When it released it was even darker but Bethesda increased the brightness so much, that night time didn't even feel like night anymore.
Only recently they slightly turned the brightness down again.

Turn on your PipBoy light.

That's how it should be.
In a post-apocalyptic rural region like Appalachia, with no power infrastructure and street lights, it should be pitch black at night, especially with no Moon or when it's overcast.
Going into densely forested area should make it darker another notch.
I use the arrow keys. So it will work. Check that you don´t have any other bindings to the arrow keys.
Make it as it was "Black as Ink" at night, as it was in the beginning. Camps will look better.

In case you didn't know...this isn't a game you play.
It's a half-baked piece of software you try to make work, and that's the entire thing.

Go start editing your files. Spend hours and days, only to uninstall when you realise how horrifically awful it is. I mean, the worst the world has seen.

Nothing in life is as sad as this studio, and what they dump out.

Uh, yeah... Personally I wish the game was way darker at night and inside.

I can't be bothered to complain about 76, there is so much wrong with it I have come to the conclusion that the "REAL" quest in this game is seeing how many bugs you can find. I wish they would give rewards for each one I came across, I'd probably have a million ATOMS !
I was attacked by four enemies. It was so dark I could not see them, so I just swung a melee weapon wildly. From the comments here I gather it can not be changed, so I will move on to another game.

it really shouldn't be dark at all.... maybe your backlight has kicked the bucket? this would result in an extremely dark picture no matter settings.

Or...another life hack -> Press Q.
Or...just keep runnin in 1(!) direction.

Least this is not as dumb as sayin "the worst the world has seen".
Who r u, Donald Trump? xD

Its mucho grande better then before, when we could barely tell the difference between day and night.
lol
