Fallout 76 Ghoul (What you think)?
In a move disappointing fans around the World, Bethesda have confirmed via their website that you have to pay atomic shop points to become a ghoul once the one time free quest is over. Details here!

It's a weird move. I get it, some people only play one character and being able to change back is important. But why a paid option to 'ghoul up' again? It makes no sense.

But... I can also understand it avoids exploitation. Right now (PTS) you change back easily via the main menu.

If you could chop and change on the fly like that you could do so in an event or raid etc. For example Rad Rumble. Run ghoul till you've got the ore then back to human for XP grinding (unyielding).

It has p2w mechanics which is always bad design

its high time that they make ANY character made on your account know all joint plans and have access to the same ranked legendary cards

Losing access to everything you've learned is the big no go for me to make a second char

and since that is the case I won't be doing ghouls

from what I've gathered

Bloodied / Unyielding won't have access to glow and will be a chore to maintain so its unlikely these builds will be available

since furious is possibly going to out dps meta bloodied that part is ok

the loss of the special with special scaling perks will make it so that they are only as evasive / tanky as a heavy weapon unyielding build will be

in PvP they will probably be the go to choice, just the double health pool with glow will make them more popular

But given you can negate anything thrown at you (with 2 exceptions and one of those exceptions is just a nuisance while the other is a random chance effect) in PvP being a ghoul for it seems foolish and will likely only attract the low end pvp'ers who die anyway

other downsides are the having to wear specific headgear to do certain things around humans

honestly they should have made a scoreboard item around rank 50 that would turn you from ghoul to human and another around rank 80 that would have allowed you to do the change to a ghoul

Then have them as camp available items

but again greed and p2w
There's ways around exploitation...like making a "ghoul machine" that has it's own miniquest to swap.
Personally the ghoul thing just doesn't appeal to me at all, like whatsoever...so it's a big nothing for me.
The Ghoul does have, with perk cards a buff to Radiation Protection to Crafted Armor, that you make. I don't know, if that also applies, to Power Armor.

After you gather the mods, and buff yourself, make better armor before going back to being human.

Its better then never, being able to go back to human, but no listing of the cost yet. It could be cheap, for the good old, nickel and dime'ing, for the Re-ghoulfication, and or expensive.

Legendary Perk, only start at Level 50. So, you get a one star Level 50 card, now if you make it to the end of the season, you can get 25 Perk points, at 75 tickets a pop. It takes 300 Points to level up one perk card. 900 Tickets, 36 times leveling up, the score at the end, for one card. So, it will be a while before maxed out perk cards, for just the 6 Legendary Perk cards you can get, per character. Also, its not hard to level to level 50. Daily Ops, and Berry Mentats and events, and before you get hit with too much gear, to fast travel. Box Mods, well, good learning them, or the ones you need.

I guess, we will find out March 18.

That's an older version of the perk. Currently it reduces the RR on worn armour and is more ghoul themed.
I support one time free ghoulification. Learn to commit to your choices. Being able to go back and forth at will would defeat the purpose of having a secdong class to begin with, not to mention ruin the lore further.
Pony up the $$$ along with the morons who buy scrapboxes.

Willfully becoming a ghoul? Sure. but willfully going back and forth, multiple times? I mean, come on. This is fiction and all but still. Respect the setting.
Bethesda has slowly been moving away from the idea that the player's choices should exclude them from certain parts of the game. Why would the Companions allow elves into their club? Bc 'the Dragonborn can do anything' and this sort of mindset has ruined the casual side of the fanbase.
Heaven forbid siding with the Raiders prevent you from interacting peacefully with Settlers, being Ghoul prevents interactions with Brotherhood, etc. This modern Bethesda middleground approach kills the spirit of the genre.

Ah, well its hard to keep up with information comming out, of the pts. My connection is too slow, to download another copy of the game for testing. I thought that would be a reason to play a Ghoul, then craft armor, with a buff, and go back to being human. But, if what you say has happen, then that is no longer a part of it, for that perk.

BGS have been pretty good at updating their patch notes: https://fallout.bethesda.net/en/article/1U0DI4MTkfwSjueWAn4yww/inside-the-vault-a-ghoulvolution-public-test-server-update

I mostly go off that anyway as my PTS characters are too far behind my live ones to do any meaningful testing.

FO76 will end up being an advanced tranquility lane simulator... none of us are doing any of the things we think we are doing... we are all trapped in a virtual reality simulation being used to simulate things... PROBABLY for the amusement of actual vault 76 dwellers

https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Tranquility_Lane

Proof?

Respawn on death

SPECIAL can be freely altered, perk abilities swapped on the fly, the ability to carry hundreds of thousands of items

Fast travel instantly

Fast travel to areas a country apart... instantly... expeditions yeah I'm there and back and there and back and there and back in a second... Same with daily ops

Lore issues because the vault tec overlords don't have access to accurate things

Aliens, Cryptids, all of us magically learning how to build neat new things at the same time

Events happening over and over and over again (eviction notice for the 100th time? Raids being run again and again... nukes being dropped thousands of times a day yet having no lasting effects...

area's loot magically reappearing but only from specific pools... oh look the magazine spot I looted a couple hours ago has a new different magazine but placed in the exact same physical position... hmmmm

Damage / moved objects respawning

jetpacking players suffering lag and hitting the moon

skycamps... subterranean camps... impossible build merge camps... etc

the ability to pop structures including complex machines and LIVING PEOPLE AND ANIMALS into existence at a whim

Things popping in, textures, enemies, etc

the list just goes on and on and on and on

Tranquility Lane would be a far more interesting season theme than caravans/ghouls that's for sure.

All I can say about this update is:

You asked for it and you got it! LOL

Oh and what happened to the fishing? is that in the next update?

The update after the ghoul update. Sometime in June. Well, not explicitly stated as June, just in the summer. The community calendar has the ghoul season ending at the end of May.

Bloodied still one of the meta builds, if you can't - means you don't know how to
