Help: Beckett softlock during Thicker Than Water quest choice

I've made it all the way through the quest to the ultimate choice (spoilers, though im sure everyone's seen it by this point) of either killing his brother and saving him. I've chosen to kill him, but after beckett pulls his gun out, he just freezes there and does nothing. Apparently this is a problem thats been known for 4 years (you think theyd actually fix softlocks like this -.- ) and the only solutions for it basically boil down to "do it again and hope it works next time". Im wondering if there's an actual solution somewhere out there because running all the way back out of the place and all the way back through to reset the cell isnt working. And you cant reload it because its an online game so doing that means you have to fight your way through all over again with depleted resources.
Please tell me someone knows an actual fix, because clearly the devs refuse to care about their players and fix things like this 4 YEARS LATER

I have had lots of freeze events especially in the main quests where the NPC 'freezes' when you have to interface with them to progress in the quest. Like when having to dialog with "RA-RA" to get her to go into the vent ducts and all I get is "NPC is busy right now" Only fix is to restart the event, sometimes multiple times. It may take logging off to desktop and start again. That's why the name "Bugthesda" comes from.

I had the same problem, so I decided to let him live. I think bugthesda doesnt want you to kill him
