Fast forward to what is now termed a raid and to make it seem special it's reduced to 4. Many bosses but few trash mobs (the Ultracite horde doesn't count, probably to limit adrenaline boosting).
From what I've been reading you could have the entire server in a raid, 24 players, and it still worked fine (max I read on Reddit though was 23).
8 with a proper matchmaking system across servers would have been ideal. 4 and limited to one server... good luck (servers I'm on rarely have raid teams even if I wanted to raid).
