Gatling gun
Is there any difference between a prime gatling laser and a prime Ultracite gatling laser? They both use the same ammo.

Yes if both have primed receiver then both use ultracite fusion cores.

Ultracite gatling laser just does more damage compared to regular gatling laser. This is not the same as ultracite laser guns which shoot faster and have green laser but do less damage compared to regular laser guns. Not confusing at all.

Ultracite gatling laser has a bit higher damage than regular gatling laser.

your title is wrong, Gatling-Gun is a ballistic weapon unlike Gatling-Laser, Ultracite Gatling Laser, Gatling Plasma, Plasma Gun, Laser Gun and Ultracite-Laser-Gun (not recommanded).

Just to point out that the naming-scheme is confusing :)

off topic:
2-shot ballistic aren't that good but it seems different for Energy wepons (different damage calculation, indicated by a video by Angry Turtle on youtube).

So if you find a 2-shot Energy wepon maybe give it a try before scarping.

Besides the higher damage and slightly more expensive repair costs, the biggest difference between the normal and the ultracite gatling laser is that the ultracite gatling laser is bugged, no skins work properly and with a beam focuser or prime receiver the laser beams are bugged and more or less invisible.

The Ultracite Gatling and Laser Gatling are two completely separate weapon branches that don't share mods (stupid design choice...).

Finding the Ultracite version is difficult. They rarely drop from Scorchbeasts or possibly Cranberry Bog events (citation needed). The crafting plan is even rarer.

Regular laser versions are far more common so unlocking the mods via scrapping is easier. However you can occasionally buy the Ultracite mods from the various vendorbots, mostly in Watoga.

Here are the specs of my two gatlings. They both use the same ammo and get 1000 shots per core.

Aristocrat Prime Ultracite Gatling Laser.
Fire rate 182
Range 204
Accuracy 61
Damage 68

Two shot Prime Gatling Laser
Fire rate 30
Range 228
Accuracy 25
Damage 90

I have a little more than 38000 caps so the Aristocrat gun is at max damage. The two shot gun fire rate can be changed to 182 by changing the barrel and accuracy will climb to 39 and damage will drop to 54.

Both guns have an advantage but I am leaning toward the Ultracite gun as the generally better gun. What are your opinions?

Lower damage = less armour penetration, not that it matters much if you hit weak points

People generally like bloodied for the up to 145% (additive damage) increased damage (base 100, + all perks are added to get a total score)

Two Shot on non legacies is generally garbage, very specific vats uses it can shine (Ex. Two Shot Faster Fire railways are deadly in pvp)

Full Health IIRC Anti armour or Junkies tends to be the best

I don't like aristocrats as you cannot spend caps without nerfing your damage output. I also don't like two shot on most non vats weapons as it cripples the accuracy and is generally inferior to something like Anti armour.

Looks like you have charging barrels mod on the two shot. Charging barrels without the Faster fire rate 2nd star effect makes the Rof so slow it can be hard to hit moving enemies. I'm not a fan of it at all without FFR. With FFR it can be a very decent gun that is fairly ammo efficient with the 1000 shots per core perk.

Without knowing the other legendary effects of those guns, if there are any, I would lean towards the ultracite gatling but be looking for something better.

It's only garbage when you don't know how they work or how to use them, just like every other prefix. Best way to tell that someone is totally clueless in this game is when they repeat such nonsense, maybe you should follow and parrot some other youtuber who knows what they actually talk about so you don't make a fool out of yourself constantly.

To be fair, the accuracy of a two-shot weapon IS garbage compared to the same weapon without that prefix.

But what would I know? I have a Vampire build.

Depends on weapons. Here's how much actual difference there is, here's Vampire's handmade: https://www.dropbox.com/s/n06u3jw72ol1ymw/Fallout76%2016.1.2023%2011.40.55.png?dl=0
And here's Two Shot handmade: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ngq460kdpt8tj61/Fallout76%2016.1.2023%2011.41.05.png?dl=0
So there's 3% difference in vats hit chance, do you really think that makes Two Shot garbage? Take a step forward and it's same 95% as the vampire's.
