Tried the canon gun for a while and don't like it. Where do you get a blueprint for a plasma canon?

The plasma caster plan is bought with gold bullion from Regs in Vault 79 or Minerva (during certain sales). It is probably what you are talking about.

The gatling plasma plan can be bought from MODUS or gotten as a random drop.

i think he means the lightning canon from last season...the tesla canon. i was disappointed in it as well. only thong it's good for is tagging enemies during events, which a tesla rifle does better, and a nuka launcher does even better (if you don't mins looking for the kills to loot after they fly everywhere. Teslas make for easy marking to loot. nuka good for pissing people off, and just making a mess.

This gun truely shines at events like Fasnacht when you have to collect squirrel intestines

A shot or two clears out the entire grassy area with them allowing easy mass collection
The Tesla Canon hits hard enough to be viable but like the flamer the ammo is unsustainable and you will be forced to grind/craft to maintain it.
plasma caster is super slow, its a monster but more a true sniper heavy.
tesla canon is a beast if your build is right. i hit for over 2000 + the double explosive dmg with no buff and vats crit for over 4000 + double the explosive dmg. Its a reverse onslaught weapon. As for ammo use ammosmith and ammo factory and super duper with high luck

I'm a melee build, but need to carry something else for the odd time that I need to range something.
if you dont mind the spin up get the Gatling plasma from the enclave or pepper shaker to cripple targets

I play melee for certain situations, but how do you play melee on events like Eviction notice/Dangerous Pastimes? AFKing aside?
Melee and heavy weapons are incompatible as they both use Strength perks.

I use a chainsaw and auto axe; both are Vamp + 40PA+3 Strength + Pounders (or Vipers for Bosses) as my melee. For ranged weapons, Perception is available; one character uses Commando (Fixers and Handmade) while the other uses Rifleman (Quad Dragons and Lever actions).

EN and DP are compatible with chainsaw or auto axe melee. EN does require good Agility (or a jet pack) to get to the mobs quickly. To solo some public events (Swarm of Suitors, Tea Time) melee can be difficult due to the ranges and even Rifleman is tough (lacks DPS for waves). I have to swap Rifleman for Commando and use a Furious Fixer (Exp+VATS crit works well right now) as ranged weapon instead of Quad Dragons.

Eviction notice with melee? Seriously? From the spawn point of 3 legendary mutants, I can kill mob at the highest point at the far end of the event (plasma caster or fixer), I want to see you trying to kill something. Same goes with all outside events. The only three events I couldnt do solo - Project Paradise, One violent night (one jukebox is not enough for timer, at least I failed) and Encrypted

Cold Shoulder or Pirate Punch does the trick. Pirate punch is especially fun as an emergency backup with 4000+ crits. That ONE thing bothering you will be confetti.

I would not even try to solo PP as it really is a team event- one person cannot collect enough resource materials for three strong creatures unless you consider a tick/bloatfly/bloodbug to be 'strong'. The timer usually runs out on 1 Violent Night since you cannot make enough noise by yourself to attract the Wendigo. I have not done Encryptid solo, but nearly so. Someone always joins unless you use a private server. Anyway, I have activated all three pylons and took down the Imposter SS. For this event, I use T-65 PA (my Alt uses T-51b which is just as good) with 4-5 TroubleShooter pieces, Electric Absorption Legendary perk and either Refractor perk cards (3) or Firecap Tasty Souffle. The TS PA pieces seem to 'hide' a player; without the TS pieces the Imposter SS (and bots) would aggro on me.

Auto Melee requires a very different strategy for EN solo- mostly, SM's come to you. As I said before, you must have good agility or a jet pack. I use Hellcat PA with 4 pieces of Mutant Slayer +1 Autostim just for this event, and I take very little damage but a lot of rads. Radshield and Nuka-Grape works for the rads.

PA is a must when you need to repair the scrubber and are taking damage from Firestarter SM's. I tend to fight around/defend the scrubber because it takes too long to return and then repair it before the timer runs out. The other trick is to kill the SM's as far away as you possibly can because you CANNOT repair the scrubber while it is taking damage, the real problem with soloing the event with auto melee. The SM's must be cleared out *before* starting repairs. A Vampire's Auto Axe with +40PA +3 Strength and Pounders will fly through most non-legendary SM's. Legendary SM's require 1-3 circle strafe/passes to take them down.

I have a Furious Auto Axe with the same stars and want to try it, but EN does not come up very often since the servers are struggling to do Big Bloom right now. Moonshine Jamboree came up a day or so ago, and I had to solo it since no one bothered to join- AFK and just picking flowers? Obviously, I could only defend one still with a melee weapon, but I did defend that still and deposit enough venom for a successful completion.

Oddly I have never looked at it that way before. Let me think on that. It makes sense to some degree. I have always looked at it as I should use my strength for multiple purposes because it's a high stat, but I get that it doesn't allow you to get the perks you need if you double up on a stat. Hmmmmm.

With onslaught and reverse onslaught the Plasma Caster isn't so useful anymore.

If the goal is one shot kills with reverse onslaught many more weapons such as revolvers and rifles are able to do this. They also have an advantage of being 'small guns' instead of 'big guns' which will have more of an affect next major update.

The big issues are armour reduction perks (stabilised only works in PA) and crippling next update. Crippling will be highly useful and powerful if the perk changes in the PTS stay as is, as small guns will have more perks for crippling (modern renegade and enforcer) and a few multiple pellet options (shotguns and energy splitters).

The Plasma Casters role of energy sniper will be superceded by many other options. Options that synergie better with regular armour and don't have the added fusion core cost of PA.
If I'm looking for something with some range that uses energy, any suggestions? I think I could spare about five intelligence for some related perks.
