Out of curiosity, you really need to go all in with the "I'll stick to the exact definition of the word to reply" thing, when you can easily understand what OP's saying?
Doesn't change the statement - there's room for interpretation - but please, what could be a scam about that and even if it looks poor...? You can just exaggerate everything.

People get a bit weird with thinking The Enclave and BoS are 'at war' despite FO76 occurring much earlier in the timeline, well before any animosity between the groups.
Therefore some want to wear Vertiguard because of the jetpack/look but not want to display BoS insignia.
Bethesda saw a market and said "Stuff the lore! There's money to be made!".
As to factions "at war", I think all of fallout conflict theme could be aptly described as tribal warfare. I'm mostly upset we don't have more tribes and instead focus on these specific organizations like they're the majority of the surviving population.
