Is Solo Worth It?
I have no interest in online play, but was a fan of previous Fallout games. At this point, is the game any good if you are playing solo. How would you compare the experience with Fallout 3?

There is no Solo as in Single Player Game-It's online 24/7. You can pay for a private server but you are still online.

if you want play solo you can do it really well. even when you group upfor the XP you can do things alone.

i played solo the first 250 hrs and had a good time with all the Quests.
You can compare the solo campaign with the campaign to fallout 4.
with full voice overs in different languages, what not every company does.

I play solo all the time, since 2019, and only ever group if its required for score, then i leave the group.

The game will be fun until around lvl 30 after that it starts to grind. So around 50 hrs if game play if you play normally and do not meta.

The map is great. But you won't get the FO3 feeling. Modded FO4 is arguably the best single player rpg experience. However 76 is often on sale for a few bucks. I'd pick it up when it is and give it a try. You do have to be online to play it even in solo.

you can do most stuff, except some events and raids solo

Dont waste your time, it can be played solo without raid and 3 events, but now after all changes forced by community from 2018 it has no difficulty, no good story, half of time you waste maintain backpack becouse of insane amount of junk and ammo drop, wait for Dune: Awakening, Rooted or Permafrost they should be better choices than this.

Fallout 76 is mostly solo and COOP.

You still have to learn some game mechanics to avoid PVP. You don't like a situation, server hop and that's it.

Beside that, there's a learning curve, but plenty of tools (wiki) and videos to set you in the right direction, I mean making errors is part of the game too ... !

Perfectly possible to just do the quests and follow the story as a solo player. Don't join teams and play solo is fine. Don't listen to anyone telling you otherwise. Raids is new content and does not have anything to do with story quests. Can be totally ignored if you don't want to do it. Just have pacifist mode on and avoid workshops and the monster mash event as these have PvP. Just go have fun

I've played solo since launch minus about 2 years and only grouped a few times.
It's been so long I don't remember when I last did.

Solo is doable and not hard. With whatever build you like and decent gear anyone can solo.
Joining events solo is a GREAT way to get lots of XP and items.
Towards the end of the main questline and others it will get harder as expected.

76 is always online. Griefers are a TINY, insignificant # of people who've made bad life choices.

I'm lvl 447 at 858 hours and except for Public Events I do everything Solo.
Only join "Casual Team' for the Bonus and play by myself.

I play solo most of the time, its not dead, its what you make out of it.
You can clearly play alone, i have no friends or anything sadly so i'm forced to do so, you can just avoid events and joining groups, but you can still get loot, you can do missions alone, you can spend tons of hours and the server map dies, and you're alone on map, and you can do the Events alone aswell, you can do Daily Ops alone, everything. The grind is more better on Fo76 than how was in Fo4, atleast for me.

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it. Many of the answers are using terms that sound like an mmo, which is what I want to avoid.

F76 isnt a MMO. Only 24 players per server max.
It's a Multiplayer Game that you can easily play Solo.
If you have the Fallout 1st Sub you can have your own Private Server and actually play alone (not as fun)
