Black Powder Rifle

Went looking for the black powder rifle at locations marked on the wiki (Philippi Battlefield Cemetery, Prickett's Fort, and ran over to Whitespring Resort). Being level 17, I should be able to use it, right? Any help would be appreciated in finding one!

For me it was the most fun to have in the early levels. One shotting badies is tremendous fun. BTW, is there such a thing as a Legendary "Dragon" pistol/ rifle?

After the update i have those issues. Animation freezes 80% time i enter the power armor, i cannto do nothing, cannot move, cannot access inventory, i cn just pick up my gun and shoot but nothing else, i have to wait 60 sec for my power armor to return in my inventory then i can move and try enter it again. But its terrible ! When it happen in fight I am dead ! Allso my power armor from my inventory dissapear after same thing happend and I turn of the game by ALT + F4. Thats very anyoing !!!! Bethseda- microsoft, return my power armor or at least refund me those materials exept violet and grimson fluxes for my upgrades on them ! I allso lost my steel mill t51B helmet that i buy for hard money from another player !!! I want to refund or give it back to me ! Now ! :-/

In my opinion, forget that gun @ level 17. Much to low firing rate at to low damage. The reload takes to long. I´m at ~250 and got a bloodie one. With all depending perk cards and lowest health it is really usable in VATS with level 50+. Damage goes up to 549 then. One shot on regular enimies with level up to 100 if you aim head. For all the stronger enemies its nearly useless, i guess.

You have got multiple vendors in whitesprings.
Vendor bubbles in the resort and one vendor at the whitesprings station.
Maybe more?

There is a little town east of morgantown with a little cabin in the middle.....there are black powder weapon displays there.

I got a legendary one around lvl 15, but then never saw another one (I've bought the plans and crafted a standard lvl 50 since finding the first). I'm still hoping to find another legendary rifle. That first one I found was amazing, and got me hooked despite the frustrations.

A warning, though - the rifle can be extremely frustrating. It's very slow to load, and, if you're attempting to switch weapons after your initial shot, you can't until the loading animation is ALMOST done. Then, if you switch, your black powder rifle is unloaded. You have to wait a beat after the reloading animation finishes to switch weapons if you don't want to find yourself lining up your next shot with the rifle only to reload instead of shoot when you pull the trigger.

Nope, that looks to be just a black power rifle, I got one of those but a three star. The Dragon has 4 barrels. My Dragon pistol is just a regular ol dragon not legendary. I looked it up after I posted the question and there does appear to be a 3 star Dragon out there somewhere.

And no the black power guns are not trash. Yes they are slow loading (mine has 50% anti armor with a 40% reload speed increase and some (?) special increase). And they are frustrating when you are trying to get multiple shots off but . . . . for me that is fun. Trying to take down an assultron while they are talking smack and you get off a shot but it is not enough so you have to run while you are reloading. The screen turns purple so you know the baddie is aiming at you. You turn a corner then wait, then come back out and shoot out its legs. The assultron is down crawling like a baby but still deadly. You run around it while it trys to turn and burn you up. But finally your gun reloads, you give a hip shot with your fricking rifle and BLAM, right in the head and the assultron is DOWN.

So while your mileage may vary, I love my black powder rifle and hope one day I get the legendary Dragon.

Yes, yes, yes, nothing funnier that being in a battle and switching black powder weapon too quickly and then when you switch back and shot . . . . CLICK. Screen shows ZERO bullets. Its like in the movies . . . The bad guy looks at you waiting for the shot and nothing. Too bad they dont have an animation where you can just throw the weapon at the guy and haul butt otta there.
