Who to side with Crater or Foundation?
Im about to break into vault 79 and was wondering about who to side with. Note i have looked around a little bit online to see what is better and over all it does seem like the crater/raiders is better. Just a little note i do not really care for their reputation as i have read that you can level them both up all the way afterwards by doing other stuff so this does not matter at all to me. I have already done both sides of their quests and have already gotten the chinese stealth armor. I have also read that if you do the raders/crater side you can get a special gun from ra ra while raiding the vault. There is nothing i have found online looking around that there is any special thing if you side with the foundations. Ive heard that you can get the electric MOD for the gauntlet from the gold bullion guy in foundation after you raid the vault but im kind of wondering if i should do them just for that although im thinking it would appear in his inventory after the raid regardless of who i choose so please let me know on this. Im doing a one hand melee build just for fun so i kind of want that mod for the gauntlet regardless of how good or bad the weapon is. im guessing one of the bigger question is do their vendors price go up for the gold bullions go up if you decide to go with the other faction. so does the price jump up for foundation if i go with crater? and vice versa with the crater if i doing foundation instead of them?

Everything else can be done and unlocked either way.
If you do all prep missions for both sides up until the respective "Siding with..." mission pops up you get all the other faction unlocks (e.g. the Chinese Stealth suit or the prototype T-51 steel mill power armor helmet).
And you can buy all the stuff with gold bullion, if you afterwards level up the reputation for both sides by doing the repeating daily quests, random encounters and events that give you faction reputation.
Splitting the gold 50/50 between the faction makes leveling up a little easier.
Also, the Raiders have slightly more daily quests to get reputation.

Warning:
During the Buried Treasure final mission there can be a bug, where you can't continue through a door with an intercom.
No idea if this has ever been patched, or if the mentioned workarounds work.

Note:
You can only get one of the achievements with one character.

Then you are better to side with the raiders for the actual mission, give them the full gold you can

Why? They have better faction specific rewards - the ammo factory produces ammo for free

Settlers have farming stuff, which while useful for endgame you won't need as soon

Prices stay the same, its just who you wanna spend less time farming favour for

I split it 50/50 but if I'd known keeping it all for myself was a viable option (I'm sure it was plain as day, but I missed it), that's what I would've done. In the end, you'll be grinding rep for one or the other anyway. So it depends really on how much time you want to invest in it.

You'll have plenty of bullion in the fullness of time, IMO better to go 50:50 so as to avoid NPCs giving you negative comments afterwards each time you enter Foundation or Crater (if that sort of thing bothers you). Dong the vault run with the Raiders can be glitchy/buggy (and therefore frustrating) but arguably gives you a better weapon (though I suspect you'll hardly ever use it, as it isn't that great). I did twice with Foundation and once with the Raiders. Kept all the gold once then went 50:50 for the two times after that. Hope that helps.

Well it looks like the crater/raiders is more beneficial and i might as well just go through the frustration of the bug for it. Not sure if ill get the special gun cause i was mean on the little girl in just 1 of her comments out of curiosity haha
Thanks for the comments and the helpful information/tips everyone!

With Raiders you get slug Buster. But only after fighting your way past one of the glitchiest quests in the game.

Now wish I had gone 50/50, unlocked raider ally last week due to siding with them and still quarter to go to ally for foundation, I want the CAMP Allie with the 5% XP buff for 4k gold from them. Playing solo so want all the xp buffs I can get.

So photos and getting back stolen kit grind...

Well, that's what I read at least.
I haven't played the Raider finale to be able to tell first hand.

During her prep mission, did she refuse to open the door to the power armor with the exclusive "Steel Mill" helmet?

Raider end mission you can get the brat Ra-Ra to open a side door for a unique plasma rifle "Slug Buster" (that you can sell or trade to other players even if you dont need it) , I guess the foundation version is a unique power armor helmet.....yay I guess? As for dividing up the gold, Your gonna end up grinding both factions so it dosnt really matter - go with what you want earliest or split it to lessen the overall grind.

The real difference is the Meg's raiders are returning natives.

The Settlers are colonist pigs.

Do you, though.

Raiders, because of the Plasma Rifle you can get, its pretty good, also if i remember right, you unlock the gaus minigun on them and that is also a pretty good weapon.

The settlers however give you littery nothing for siding with them, the Stealth Suit you unlock before siding with them anyways and theres no speical weapon to be found in they're mission.
