Massive FPS drops in various UI elements
I am being driven insane by FPS drops I've been noticing more frequently, and I've always seen them, but I've kind of turned a blind eye thinking it might just be expected engine jank. But I'm really curious if other people have these ridiculous FPS drops, because I want to make sure it's not me.

The things that trigger these FPS drops seem to be opening the favorites menu (seems to be random, sometimes it's smooth), sometimes using the transfer/area loot function on corpses to look at the entire list of items, and even search perks like Cap Collector and Butcher's Bounty are big culprits. Cap Collector for example consistently kills my FPS when the little animation in the corner plays out when you examine a corpse, then it goes back up once it ends. I've even noticed sometimes the perk menu seems to be very laggy and sluggish at times.

These are all very serious dips, taking the framerate down from like a consistent 130-140+ all the way down to 40ish and even below 20 for the worst, which is basically unplayable.

I want to believe there might be some sort of workaround or fix, but I have a strong feeling it's just like deep-seated issues with the game itself. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe it is just me?

I think it happens to everyone, just has to do with it being an old game engine with a lot of quirks.

I just remember to avoid opening the pip-boy or weapon wheel during events and stuff, memorize all your favorite slots.
Doesn't happen to me, maybe a hardware issue?

I think it has something to do specifically with borderless window mode, the issue may not happen in fullscreen mode. May not affect everyone.

I have it and its since the patch. I'm usually 100-120 fps and when I open either a vendor, my Wheel select or my pip boy or even my perks it drops to 31-40 fps and its annoying.

It's not a fullscreen or borderless issue as I've tried. It's not a graphic card issue, nor hardware. It was working really fine before.
game running worse with every patch.. also noticed that game runs badly now, with rtx 3070 getting pretty much that 30-45 fps.. just going to R&G Station and standing there is like 44fps - that is after playing a while but if fresh start and going there is highter..
annoying as hell this old game can't run steady fps at 60 at least

Have the same, except I have crappier GPU and my normal fps is about half of yours. Opening Pip-Boy, trader menu, container etc drops my fps to single digits and it's a chore to do anything. Also my game freezes completely for 3-5 seconds if I use the weapon wheel, especially during combat/events.
Also the lag is constantly so high more than half of my shots won't register, which is fun. :P

I'm having the exact same issue came back after a few years and looting corpses nearby menu and the weapon wheel tanks my framerate from around 120/70 to about 30/15.

I thought I was going nuts I even have my pc dual booted with windows and linux and the performance is exactly the same in both during the ui elements and they def gotta fix this.
